I posted before that it seemed to me that I've been getting a LOT of pilot wounds. In the past 2-3 days I've flown, I have been pilot wounded four of the last five times I've been hit.
I'm not complaining about getting hit - that's my own dang fault - but I wanted to call out the high occurrences of PW on me. All of them were while I was in P-51D, and I got them via collision, buff gunner, fighter gunnery and I think unmanned ack.
Is anyone else noticing a high rate of PW occurrences?
If it's by design, I can live with it, but I wanted to call it out in case it's an unintended change.

I haven't noticed getting them any more than normal, but I took a couple year break and my memory isn't the greatest.

My troubles involve losing the v-stab of late. :(

LOL that fifth non-PW hit was of my v-stab. Stupid PT boat got me and shot me in my chute! John Kennedy was not captaining that one.

They do seem to come in waves. For me, I keep getting both ailerons shot off.

Can you say you've gotten X pilots wounds in Y occurrences of being hit?
Or if HiTec tracks events in code, he can disabuse us of the veracity of this anomaly and we can chalk it up to bad luck!

I also noticed that when flying a 109 or P-39, the hub cannon gets shot out a lot. Seems strange that the cowl guns still work. Must have been Luke Sywalker taking the shots. :noid
For annoyance level, it goes like this:
1. radiator hit
2. v-stab
3. pilot wound
4. hub gun
5. main fuel

I lost a flap the other day!
Is it the game?
I was in a T34 :old:

for me it is like junky....detrimental hits with only one or two pings heard..but on the other side I seem to unload on planes and do no damage...but then I too will have a 1 ping kill bit of a strange balance..also angles of hits are weird for many on my end....both receiving and giving...some are real head scratchers...not all the time but a good percentage...
I personally am putting it down to the new game sounds and muscle memory. I get a little disorientated at the moment for some reason...but it is frustrating me a bit....I'm sure I played much better on my first day of AH. :D

MickDono, does the Captain Fantastic pic mean you're a StevieG or a Watford supporter?

Please do not ask this question again.
The picture is actually MickyD, he plays AH in between writing songs and washing his wigs.

Funny but now that you mention it I think 4/5 of our FSO Hurri II pilots got pilot wounded attacking JU-88s in FSO. Seems a bit high, so might be worth looking at. Just sayin'.
-
To reiterate: this is an observation and not a complaint.
- If I've had a bad run of luck, and no one else is experiencing this, no prob - carry on.
- If others are also seeing a spike in PW and that is by design, I'll live with it.
- If others are are also seeing a spike in PW and it's not by design, well...

.30:s are really nasty when it comes to PW, i guess it's due to a higher rate of fire than .50:s. Going Head on against a bomber in a Spit I (or Hurri I) and bomber go boom every time...
-
the idea that .30 caliber can penetrate and do PW at 50mm armored windshields is plain stupid -are they cumulative like a wooddonut hacking its way into a tree ?
-
True, but that isn't anything new. Not even an IL-2 can take more than a few hits by .30:s to the cockpit area, even if the fire is coming from directly ahead of the plane..

Did you know Zack is a famous musician as well.......he is known internationally as one of the worlds foremost bowl organ players......he can be found holding concerts every weekend at certain Commons in the London area..... :old:

Same here. It was a rare occurrence in ah2 but seems more common now. Makes for some interesting landings.

Yes, very interesting...
My most famous landing was after a bomb run on a Vbase (years ago). I lost both outer wingtips at the same time, but was fast enough to maintain flight. I was able to successfully crash land on a CV using rudder only.... I one a bet, and my squaddie was to post a picture of him in a ballerina outfit complete with tutu... Bet one, payment still pending....

This is my flying outfit. I get a better feel of the rudder pedals in slippers.

I'm guessing skin-flute.

Maybe the front armor is behind the pilot instead of in front of him?

Maybe we deserve pilot wounds...

Maybe park something with the 30cal and fire across the nose of the plane slowly moving rearward?

There is definitely something amiss within the game.
I am experiencing like the OP stated, many pw's, fires, loss of tail and wings all from 1 to 2 hits, particularly 20mm. The other day I was hit by a C205 and my Dora after bailing out had both wings, its vertical stab, rudder, 1 horizontal stab, oil hit and a pw from what was a few hits. Had to laugh.
Who else is getting many fly through ack, "ping" then your in the tower?
Today flying a Spit16, 1 hit from an LA and my right wing departed.
Yesterday in a 190A5 flying over a town I lost a horizontal stab, although I heard the ping, there was no tracer on the film. Then as I opened fire, my engine burst into flames and I cannot find a hit from enemy fire on the film?
The damage for the 20mm especially seems to have been increased but I think maybe a little too much.

Evening of Oct 29, Pilot wounds almost on every flight, little or no other damage to aircraft. Was not Pilot wounded on 4 of my 15 flights that evening. Just bad luck I guess, but it did seem to happen a lot.
