Totally unofficial, just for the fun of it I made a poll on the what you'd like to see developed as AH III's next new aircraft choice. I'm sure it's biased toward planes I like but I tried to be inclusive of mostly new models and/or plane set hole fillers. I think it includes the top vote getters from the last official poll (Yak-3 won that, didn't it?)
Please give it a try here:
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=586ecf08e4b01fee68920da3 (http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=586ecf08e4b01fee68920da3)
Feedback and construction criticism welcome. I tried to make it purdy. I set it so you can see the results after you vote.

I would like to see all of them including that Mavis sitting in the water behind the P63. I will bet Waffle has some of them in some state of readiness and at least one of them ready for Hitech to pull the trigger here in 2017. I'm more curious about the first 2017 patch since it would be fortuitous to start the new year with a lot of goodies. And you have noticed that Greebo has become a skin factory of prodigious output volumes of goodness these days.
Hitech has not forgotten us, this reminds me of how busy he got during the alpha and beta just before the next patch.
-
The G.55 got my vote. It adds to the very small Italian plane set and with three 20mm cannons, it would see enough use to make it a worthwhile addition.
-
I should have phrased the question differently: "Which ONE of these aircraft would you MOST like to see added to AH III?" Because, yeah, I'd like 'em all too...
-
I vote for none of those. I would rather see early Japanese fixed gear fighters for AVG and China and Russian scenarios.
-
All of them. :D
-
Beaufighter.
-
Ki-45 has been on my wish list along a few of the others. Nice list!
-
I picked g.55. Although the SB2C, Ki-44, and Beaufighter all take 2nd place.
-
How about the Dornier 335?
-
Great line up that it is hard to pick.......beau fighter.
-
My order of what I'd like to see:
Yak-1 or LaGG-3 (For Eastern Front mid-war, where there is otherwise large gap for Soviets; Yak-1 was more produced)
B6N (Most-produced Japanese torpedo bomber, taking over for the early-war B5N)
D4Y (Most-produced Japanese dive bomber, taking over for early-war D3A)
Pe-2 (Most-produced Soviet attack plane other than Il-2, for Eastern Front)
TBD (Important for Battle of Coral Sea and Midway)
Beaufighter (Multi-role, would add a lot of flavor to events)
-
I went with the Beaufighter, although I'd be happy to see any of your list. Another vote here for the Emily to be added.
You might want to change the Tu-2 to a Pe-2.
-
How about one of these...

A26 Invader
Bingo, we have a winner! :aok
-
LOL vulcan.
Beaufighter, MIG3, KI44, and PE2 are the most important missing planes.
-
If all of you guys are willing to fly those new planes, and only those new planes for an entire month, I'd be happy to hope HTC spends time on new planes :devil
Truely, I just think there are other things that should be focused on first. Not trying to drain the fun of this thread. Personally, there are so many planes on the list already that need more game time and love.

CAC Boomerang

we have the tu-2 already!
meteor all the way!
-
All in fun; I do think finishing the existing planes is very important, however a completely new airframe does add some excitement and freshness to the game in a way an existing plane update cannot match. I really wanted to try an aircraft poll with some color - more than just a list of planes. I wanted action shots to go along with each entry.
My thoughts - I excluded planes where game capability does not yet support - like floatplanes and flying boats. I would love to see the A6M-N Rufe or the Emily, Sunderlund or Catalina in AH someday. I also intentionally left out some variants of existing planes - like the B-17F or B-24D, to keep the voting list to a reasonable size.
Yep, I goofed - should have been a Pe-2, not Tu-2 - which is already in game I think? Two more days until my new vid card and power supply arrive, and I can't get back in until then; I'm going stir crazy. I should've checked the aircraft list on HTC's website though.
There are a few planes I want I forgot about - Lagg-3, and a Mig, for example. I don't think I would've thought to add a fixed gear early Japanese plane though - I assume Jimson refers to the Ki.27 Nate or A5M Claude.
I don't believe the Do335 or the F-82 meet the inclusion requirements. The B6N and D4Y would be important scenario hole-fillers though. The A-26 was omitted unfairly - like the Meteor it was an Allied latecomer to the War but went on to serve with distinction in the Korean and even Viet Nam conflicts. In fact it was tough to find WWII art on it, a lot of stuff I found was from Korean, or Viet Nam era. While it was initially rejected for service in the Pacific by General Kinney (who preferred the A-20) it did see some service and also got in to the final months of the ETO. The Boomerang is a sweet looking little ship but I understand it was mainly used for light ground support. A more complete list would've included it though.
Thanks to all who voted - I am surprised at the G.55's and Ki.45's strong showings! I was expecting a close race between the Beaufighter and the Meteor myself. I voted for the J2M Raiden but a top choice for me was the Hawk 75/P-36. Saw service with lots of nations, both ETO and CBI Theaters, and a lot of the development work can be borrowed from the P-40C. I also got to thinking it would be important to have an early FW190A - the plane our Spit IX was specifically developed to counter.
I'll leave the poll active another day or so.
-
Had a look back at the 2011 HTC poll for a new fighter. Excluding the ones that have been added to the game since then the choice was:
Beaufighter
Boomerang
D.520
G.55
IAR 80
J2M
Ki-44
Ki-45
Ki-100
Meteor
Mig 3
Odd they didn't add the Ki-100 when the Ki-61 was updated.
-
Oh yeah, the Ki.100 - how could I forget that? I think its a bit more than adding a radial to the existing Ki.61 fuselage - the Ki.100 was a lashup between the Ki.61-II's fuselage (which was a bit longer) and a Mitsubishi radial engine. They might also consider the later cut-down rear fuselage for better visibility. I find the new Ki.61s rear view much worse than the old, though its probably more realistic.

How about one of these...

Get over here and clean my monitor!
-
I would rather see the Fiat vs the rest of the selection.
A. It's a good plane but not Uber by any stretch.
B. The J2m, Meteor, and P63 would most likely be perked.
C. The rest of the set would be Hanger Queens.
-
IAR81c
-
Boomerang, Brewster, and Yak3. No base take would ever be safe from the Nibbler Hellions........

Hey Greebo-Is this list ranked top to bottom according to the vote of community in 2011?

It is listed alphabetically. You can see the original poll thread here (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,322108.0.html) with the poll results included.

Thanks! Well here is my vote for the Beaufighter, then Meteor, then Boomerang. :aok

HTC should add a new plane a few times per year, in addition to the continuous updating of the current set. New planes, even new old planes, create enthusiasm for the game.
-
In 2011 what were we thinking and what did people think they were getting? We ended up with the 410 and who fly's it anymore? A bit later the Yak3 and Ki43, and everybody flys the Yak and ignores the Ki43 for it's weak guns. Guns do tend to be a big factor in players ride decisions along with running away speed. Who knows, this list may have indicated the data on hand at HTC for getting a ride out the door quickly if HTC was willing to let us vote on "their" list.
2011 Vote Results:
Me 410
150 (14.8%)
Beaufighter
147 (14.5%)
Ki-43
118 (11.7%)
Meteor
107 (10.6%)

IAR 80
24 (2.4%)
Ki-45

Thanks Buster, very interesting.
Looks like the Beaufighter is still very much wanted, and the G.55 and Ki.45 have both moved up while the Meteor's popularity has remained about the same. Its not a completely valid comparison because of the different planes in my poll probably siphoned off some votes.
In both polls I think the Japanese plane lovers are at a disadvantage because there are so many missing Japanese planes, their votes get watered down among the choices. If they could all agree to support just one plane, it'd probably get enough votes to win out.
-
Beaufighter.
This got my vote too.
-
Anything but another 190. :D
-
Because French fighter that actually could hold a candle to an early 109.
P47 D23 Because if you like the razorback you are stuck with a very early war model that does not benefit from a paddle blade prop nor extra pylons.

Beaufighter.
Amen
-
Bios on the planes would have been helpful
Kimo
-
Thanks Kimo, that's a good point.
If I ever do this again I think I'd add a description - production numbers, areas of operation, performance and armament. I'd be sure to include all the other planes from the 2011 poll as well, and make sure not to include a plane we already have in game.... :bhead
Thanks again. I'll close the poll sometime today.
-
Beaufighter would add a lot, given the variety of ordnance. The a26 in air warrior trim is nothing but a fond memory.
-
Poll has been closed, thanks for your participation and suggestions.
The top 3 finishers were:
Fiat G.55 Centauro - 13 (21%)
Bristol Beaufighter - 11 (17%)
Gloster Meteor - 9 ( 14%)
The Fiat really moved up in popularity from the official poll in 2011. The Ki.45 started strong but ran out of gas early. It'd be fun to see any of these planes make an appearance this year though.
-
Meteor never made the war.

Meteor never made the war.
Hey Shuff, not sure where that comes from, there's information out there about the Meteor's WWII service, small though it was. Used by No.616 Squadron, they were employed chasing down V1s over Britain in summer 1944. Ended up knocking down 14.
In January 1945, 4 Meteors moved to Melsbroek AB in Belgium and by March the entire squadron moved to Gilze-Rijen in Holland, and on 13 April moved again to Nijmegen. Finally, on 17 April the Meteor entered combat over Europe, carrying out a ground attack mission near Ijmuiden. For the rest of the war the squadron flew a mix of ground attack and armed reconnaissance missions. They were credited with 46 air to ground kills.
<S>
-
Except in the case of Aces High and Pappy Boyington air-to-ground is not a kill. :devil
-
Any plane from the 2011 poll or this one would be nice, except for the Meteor. We don't need any more perked monster planes.

They never crossed the channel to fight.
Of course we have a high alt 190 that only 10 were made before the end of the war.
-
Both Belgium are Holland are across the Channel. You may be thinking of the directive that would not allow them to cross into Germany to fight?
-
Fw190A9 had kills, made in big numbers, and the A8 can be reused, and on-top of that the F9 will be a spinoff extra.
On the list J2m and the Ki100 would get my vote.
-

The 8th AF in the ETO was unique among the various US AF groups that officially counted ground kills as part of the pilots kill tally due to the hazardous nature of the activity. It was only post-war were the records cleaned of ground kills for 8th AF pilots.
-
Did not know that. Thanks ack.

errr yes we do to combat the fact that the Narzzies have one so must we!
Plus it's not a monster really just more perks for your c202 when they start turning with you because it isn't as fast as a 262.
-
No Ki-100?
There are a few heavily produced planes they should implement without any need for a poll:
SB2C Helldiver: most produced dive bomber and would be useful in MA.
Yak 1: not crucial with all the yaks already in game.
Halifax: widely produced, inferior to the Lanc though, could be useful to some.
IL-4: Havemyr needs another medium bomber, I would be able to shoot this one down easily.
-
In the Wishlist i asked for input on variants of existing planes where the airframe/wings could be reused to get the new planes in faster.

I don't think I can update it - I closed the poll already. I'm guessing you be one more vote for the P-63, right Vinkman?
I need to find poll software that can allow multiple columns, of choices, then I can really include all the planes that should be included. And a ranked vote (like vote for your top 3) would be nice too. EasyPoll was nice but a little too basic.

The Ohka would also require a new Betty bomber model to act as the mothership.

Its not as though the game really needs another way of killing ships anyway, we already have level bombers, torpedo bombers, jabos, shore batteries, ship's guns and PT boats. Besides any heavy bomber would do a better job of killing ships, you might even be able to do more damage/time with three or four jabo runs than one slow vulnerable Betty/Ohka formation. The only way the Ohka would have a role would be if the game were re-jigged to make level bombers as ineffective against ships at sea as they were in RL.

Personally, I do wish CVs were a little harder to kill in terms of damage. b26s and Tu-2s are tough to take down and catch when they have a little alt. Downing the CV to quickly can depress fights and action, when they are some of the most fun. I wouldn't want more ack though.

Personally, I do wish CVs were a little harder to kill in terms of damage.
I'd like the battleship introduced as the fleet flagship and made much tougher than the CV, say 24K of bombs as opposed to 8K to sink it. So if bombers take out the CV it then makes for an exciting race between attackers trying to kill the battleship and any remaining CAP and defenders trying to stay alive and protect the flagship until the CV respawns.
