Title: Brandishing Firearms
Post by: mutha on February 08, 2017, 02:18:38 PM
So if I were to exit my aircraft, and other folks did the same, and we meet in a meadow or glade somewhere, and shot each at each other, would we kill each other?

In other words, does AH3 work as a FPS? I know the pilot parts don't articulate.

And if we do, could there be a neutral base that we could all land at and run around and shoot each other?

Go into the DA with two other guys and up storchs. Then at the same time bail out and meet on the ground. We did that a lot during the open alpha testing stage of AH3 about 18 months ago around the new HQ object. There used to be a bug where your pilot could push his arm into another pilot and get stuck that way........

I have a pic somewhere of Thud and GAngel doing that.

At the risk of being dumped in wishlist or <shudder> the O'club, why now have a little arena where we can run around a town and kill each other with handguns?

You can already do that in any town on any map.

Apparently, you can get it on in the air too:

mutha, you can take it even further: In the previous versions of AH it has been reported several times that a bailed pilot has killed a tank by shooting the driver between the eyes through the viewing slot. A vague memory also tells me that someone has dropped a plane with his handgun.

I know czok destroyed my base sups and my pintle gun on my m3 when I was trying to save a port in AH II .. That little stinker! But when I finally caught him walking around my m3 I decided to see if I can kill him by running him over since he destroyed my pintle gun... Boom! .. Took weeks to get his blood off my bumper

One time Betty and Kermit were messing around in the woods and they saw me fly over their heads.   They hollered out on 200 for me to give them a duel.  Not being one to back down from a challenge I duly turned back.

I did a few go arounds to determine their exact position and then bailed out nearby.   Kermit came running up the hill towards me like rambo and I ran for the cover of a shady tree.

Using the left and right keys I popped out from behind the tree and shot kermit through the eye.   Betty was a bit further back by a barn so I had to walk down the hill a little bit.  It got a bit tense as I made my way from a little grouping of trees but then another gunfight ensued and she also got shot in the head.  Nearly fell out of my chair laughing, think I still have the film somewhere.    :D

I've stood in a hanger and killed a plane with a headshot to the canopy with my 45.

It would be amusing to have a location in MA that anyone can go to, with no GVs or planes - just a place to spawn in with your sidearm. Then we can go at it.

I presume I'll be given many reasons why this shouldn't happen. But having this kind of gameplay will attract newer players, and retain players who might be burning out.

I know the pilot graphics will suck, but if the gameplay is fun and popular, it can be iterated on, eventually incorporated to the overall game.

I think it would have to be indoors or something. Otherwise you'd have planes flying over bombing and strafing the little men.
I like the idea though.

easycor, I think it was him, made a D Day map where you started running around on a boat then had to get to the beach, before you even got to an airfield..
Bruv and I did a recce on it ... but the memory is faded a tad.. :old:

Was it the same map with a partially modeled Paris? I remember climbing the stairs of the Eiffel Tower after him while testing the arena.

In AH 2, I once taxied to the re-arming pad.  Some enemy pilot found a spot where he could hide from the ack, and shot me when I stopped to re-arm.

Second story.  We were trying to capture a base, I saw an enemy pilot ride his chute all the way down to the town.  When I got shot down, I rode my chute down too.  I figured he would be hiding in the map room, waiting to shoot troops when they came to capture.  I ran to the map room and went in (I don't think you can do that in AH3).  Sure enough, there was the enemy pilot, waiting.  Bang bang bang, and I got the kill.

I have had a shootout with another pilot, ran into him near a map room. we went out on the main street, 20 yards from each other and waited for the church bells..

Edit: (lol, no i shot him in the back)

in the MA? Deack a base then bail over the grass runway spawn. No kills so far but several assists.

That was probably me but the new rearm buildings don't have that place where you are shielded from the ack.
