I would like to see the Formation feature added to the Stuka Dive Bomber. If there is a way to keep the Stuka Formation intact during the dive bomb run. Otherwise no reason if they cannot run in together.

With wailing sirens...in old AH I had Stuka bomb drop sound like a siren..it was nifty

+1 on Jericho Trumpets for JU87s

None of the versions we have had the Trumpet, it was only the B-1 that had them.

This. The jericho trumpet systems were replaced early on in the stuka line in favor of whistles attached to the bomb's fins; much less drag, no constant high pitched noise to distract the pilots even during level flight and the whistles could be added to almost any of the bombs carried by the luftwaffe. There use to be some sound packs that traded the in game standard "high wind noise" for the wail of a jericho trumpet, but it was a file set a player had to download and replace the default files with (USRanger's sound pack if I remember right)

The Ju 87 did not bomb In a vic , it was echelon solution get players to up Ju87 with you

More easy kills! +1

no drones for planes without a level bomb sight. Dive bombers do not bomb in formation because the do pinpoint attacks - not carpet bombing.
Also, enough with the 3 lives thing. You want wingmen? get 2 players to fly with you.

Dive bombers also dove bombed in formation. The Japanese dive bombers would often dive in a Vic formation. I just read a book about the invasion of Singapore and there are many British soldier accounts of watching formations of Japanese dive bombers diving in Vic formation, dropping their bombs on the British roadway convoys. One account described the dive bombing Japanese pilots as "diving in formation as though they were on Sunday parade, without fear of being opposed in the air".

The ju88's we have, can dive bomb by the drones act wierdly in a dive lastni tried.. I need to test their accuracy later today after work. And take screen shots.

That is a stupid way to attack a road convoy.
If they dive aligned with the road, formation members will miss to the left or the right. If they dive in a direction perpendicular to the road they are all likely to miss.

Seems like it would be a fairly effective tactic to me if they also wanted to inflict casualties on the ground troops that would most likely seek cover to either side of the road
but still -1 to drones for any dive bombers, would be nice to see a formation option added to the TBM and B5N though

Heh. Well, you see how that worked out for them at Singapore.

from all the history I've seen-stuka's arrived at target in formation dove dove independent of the others

Yeah I have tried this too because the JU-88 WAS used as a dive bomber, and I can think a particular upcoming FSO where this might be quite useful. :t
It would work a lot better if the JU-88s drones could be induced to go into line-astern formation (like the do when landing).

Line astern would work.

What!!, you don't want the D5 option with the 20mm in the wings? That would be more useful in the game than a formation. More players might up the D5 to bomb things because with the stuka's maneuverability in the MA, the 20mm would give them a chance to get home. I've appreciated on a number of occasions that we only have the D3 with 7mm in the wings as I misjudged my attack speed on a D3 and blew my pass hearing the tinkle dings of 7mm as I was pulling away. In the Melee arena it would be used because cannons make a difference.

hmmmm stukas= sitting ducks for almost any fighter I fly. :devil

seems to me they had no American and british plane interceding trying to shoot them down, at the time they attacked Singapore. I don't think America or Britain was even in the war yet.

Yep, we were in the war by that time and Singapore was a British possession. You are also correct, the Japanese had complete air superiority throughout the Malaysian/Singapore campaign.

It is not a sitting duck, dont insult the JU87. It is a flying duck, and it has the exact same flight speed as a duck.
Therefore...
a witch!

On the other hand the Stuka have a little funny toy in the 1800kg bomb, along with 2x 250kg bombs it is a pretty impressive bomb load for a single engine plane. Although you need to use the curvature of the earth to become airborne but once you have hauled it to the target you can do some damage.
