I believe I've seen more VH camping in AHIII than at any time before. I watched a new player get killed spawning in at least 10 times at a V-base before I could explain to him what was happening. He logged off.
That is just one example, as this is not an isolated issue. There are now a number of players who seem to specialize almost exclusively in rolling onto V-bases, de-acking the few guns required to do so, and camping hangers. This was significantly harder to do in AHII but is now quite easy to do in AHIII, even against opposition.
The current configuration of the 1-mile V-base makes it particularly vulnerable. If a single enemy tank gets into a certain camping position there, the base is essentially shut down. Again, this was not true in AHII, as the camping positions could be hit from several manned guns. It now takes almost constant vigilance to keep your spawn hangers from being camped in AHIII and there are certain blind spots where even manned guns can't deal with it.
Some suggested fixes are:
1) Turn the spawn VH around so vehicles spawn facing outward, facing away from the field, giving them a fighting chance to deal with a camper. (This provides the added gampe play benefit at the 1-mile V-base that a vehicle will have to actually maneuver to defend the maproom. Currently you sit in tower waiting for the troops, spawn in and start shooting the maproom before you even fully leave the spawn hanger.)
2) Re-configure some of the guns and trees on the V-base so the rear of the VH can be defended from a single camper.
3) Make all 4 vehicle hangers spawnable by breaking the Hanger spawn button into 4 parts numbered 1-4. Part 2 of this wishlist item would be to make any destroyed hangers not spawnable, so destroying a single VH actually has an effect on gameplay.
Just my two cents on addressing some camping and VH gameplay issues.

making all 4 hangers spawn able is the best option+1000

Arm human controlled personnel with the PTRD-41 and allow them to spawn from random barracks locations.
-
I agree with everything on this original post.

I really like the "choose which hanger you want to spawn from" idea. Some of the man guns do need to be tweaked so they can be depressed a little lower to hit a vehicle on lower terrain.

Dear Hitech a wish:
Please add a sub function to the GV spawn on the client end where the 8 directions of the NumPad can be selected as the orientation of the GV front end when the GV drops in on the spawn. And make all vHangers on a base select able as the spawn location.
I understand getting vulched on the runway in a plane by enemy planes and even tanks, the vHanger may well be the last ditch line of defense and it's always seemed like a dirty thing to allow someone to sit in the back door and blast you that easily. It sits on the line between things happen in a combat game, and pure greifing to allow one player to abuse people for their $14.95.

You can usually watch from the tower without even going to external view to see enemy tanks but people prefer to die over and over.

Ammo carried is limited - lives are not.

Agree with Kingpin. +1

Of the 3 solutions I posted, I too like that one the most.
That said, the replies suggest that people seem to agree with all 3 fixes, so it could be that eventually implementing all 3 of these would be welcomed.

A few dot commands would fix this if they don't want to mess with the GUI.

In this situation...I get some like minded idiot to up with me... camper can only get 1 and the other gets away....
I +1 this wish

+1 spawn camping is harmful to gameplay. good ideas there.

Another solution:
Increase Vehicle Hangar downtimes to 30 minutes. Sounds counterintuitive but, hangars are camped because it is easier to do, than have 4 hangars knocked down simultaneously.
-
I agree with the OP. Hanger camping seems to be on the rise.
Just adding a wall would help. But the best idea is spawn from other hangers that are up.
-
I am bumping this for further discussion, as the current VH wall configuration looks like it won't stop camping and could be more problematic than beneficial.
Were any of the other suggestion in my original post possible?

I think this detailed discussion of laundry (hangers) may have coincidental utility in defeating camping at hangars.
