Title: Engine failures
Post by: rvflyer on April 25, 2018, 02:06:16 PM
:airplane:>====|<I would love to see random mechanical failures, does not have to happen often but would just add another dimension to the game to make it more realistic.

Having that kind of sucks in games like these.  AW had randomized engine failures, would suck to see all of a sudden a system message about an engine or hydraulic failure or bad fuel and your plane would fly like crap.  The randomizer was one of the most hated features of Air Warrior.

Random failures punishes you for playing the game. It also removes any personal skill or ability in a game that gives us fixed weapons platforms with the SAME performance and equalizes all else so that skill is the biggest defining factor....

No random failures.

For more "realism" you can try IL2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz. You can use the ATAG server which has multiplayer. It is very different from AH3 but is fun. No icons, I need Track IR to  be able to look around, no autopilot, you dar, you have to navigate.

We already get random failure from the internet.   :devil

Maybe it could only apply to those who continually use WEP as if it was just a normal throttle setting and then come to the BBS to complain that it doesn't last long enough.

-1 to random engine failures.

A bit off topic but, was there a time in AH (or AW) when you could wreck the flaps by leaving them deployed at too high speed?  Or, did we always have auto-retracting flaps?

I think that if you burn your WEP out than there should be chance of engine malfunction.

I also think that there should be a chance of malfunction after multiple rearms and refuels.

It’s just the nature of the beast.

AW you could damage your flaps from over speeding.  Auto-retracting flaps has always been in AH since I've played.

I got a few laughs out of this one.   If You want engine failures  create Your own.   Also  which planes. Ta152. Me262. They had bad QC and a lot of problems. The  Tony Had probs too, but the old Allisons and PW 2800 were about bullet proof when maintained.   The fins had great maintenance  When the average crate lasted about 6 months,  The Fins could get years of service out of some.  Many of the Mjugs engines grenade do to salt water getting  from poor weather proofing before shipment to England. Anyway Have a blast.

Im with most of the guys here, but I would say add it as an option that you yourself could use or not use....anyway this won't happen in game as it would detract from what AH is.

Easily added feature....just roll a die and if it comes up below 4 shut your engine off.  :devil

I have enough trouble staying in the air without worrying about engine failure, the enemy takes care of that.
