P-40F flown by Lieutenant Charles B. Hall of the 99th Fighter Squadron in June 1943. On July 2, Hall would become the first African-American to claim an air-to-air victory, a Fw 190 over Sicily. His aircraft features the name of Hall's wife, Maxine, on both sides of the nose. The yellow wing stripes for MTO operations and the yellow stripe on the vertical stab and rudder indicates that this plane was hand-me-down from the 58th FS. The 99th FS received all of it's planes second hand from the other squadrons in the 33rd FG as new aircraft were delivered to the squadrons with white pilots.
Special thanks to Swareiam and Lyric for providing critical info in making this skin the best representation of Hall's aircraft anywhere.

I like that. :aok

Nice work. An unusual scheme. Lots of interesting traits.

Nice skin Devil and an interesting story to go with it.

Can you make an olive drab P-40F? Preferably one without yellow on it. A shark mouth would be icing on the cake.

Like the Aleutians P-40s. :)

I have a Pacific P-40F already in progress in OD green, alas no shark mouth on that one.

They only used Allison engined P-40's. F's and L's had Merlins.

If he is referring to the big snout P-40 then the Aleutians bird would work. I honestly don't know what P-40s are in the game so I am assuming substitutions.

Those are all Allison engined models, probably E's.
The Merlin engined P-40's do not have an intake on the top of the nose. The under-nose scoop is a different shape to account for the intake placement being below the engine.

I KNOW THAT. :bhead I'm not stupid. I knew more about P-40s by the time I was in Kindergarten than most people ever will--yes I was weird and obsessed with airplanes. :devil Please read my prior post. The E and F are both "big mouth" or "big snout" P-40s.

I was guessing we only had something like the B, F, and N in the game or B, E, and N and thus putting the Aleutian Shark scheme on an F would be like what we do with P-51Bs (with or without Malcolm Hoods) and P-51Ds (with or without fin fillet). :salute

Oops, I misread what you wrote.
Regarding our P-40 models, we have the C,E,F, and N models in game.
B and C schemes go with our C
D,E, and K schemes go on our E
F and L schemes with our F
M and N schemes go with our N
Putting the Aleutian Tiger scheme on an F would be more like putting an A-36 scheme on our P-51B. But it's not really an issue since we have a P-40E, and there's already an Aleutian Tiger skin for it too.

No problem, Sensei!

Well, I wouldn't go so far as the A-36--it would be like putting an AVG scheme on a P-40N to compare the A-36 to the P-51B. The nose outline difference on the Allison Mustang vs the Merlin is DRAMATIC. On the P-40s it's a bit more subtle.
Thanks for the clarification. :salute

Awesome! The F model is my least favorite P-40 so if I have to fly it, I want it to look mean.
