Every month, a different plane. The top three or five or whatever pilots get their names on the home page.
Something a little different to inspire competition.
This was Atlau's idea by the way so if you don't like it, blame him. :bolt:
-
Top three in what?
-
I assume kills or K/D or something.
-
Great idea.. anything to spice things up. Might not be for everybody, but I think quite a few would take interest if it was posted in a MOTD.
-
If you get out there and fight you will find competition. Some consider running away from the fight as competition.
That is why I asked the question above.

I think the purpose is to get a few different planes getting used, rather than the heavy dose of la7/yak3/ etc. I vote the ki61 as the first!

Ah to get folks into the lesser used birds would be good. I would participate in that.

Im down with a ki61 challenge for next month. What should the ground rules be? Most kills?
-
+1
kills per hour might be a good way to gauge it

It would have to be total kills or fighter kills for simplicity's sake.
Can anyone knock Tongs off his Ki-61 throne? :joystick:

AFAIK there is no way to break down k/h per plane type
And even if there was, you'd run into a problem: One lucky pilot spawning in a Ki-61 while some noe buffs die in the ack above him would have a K/H of something like 100. If he never touches the Tony again, he'd invariably win the competition.
-
Maybe if people fly it in fighter mode and dont touch any other fighters than their relative scores might be valid.
-
IMO, you should do best kills/sortie after at least 20 sorties.
I like the idea of this because it would get people flying new planes and challenges are always fun!
-
If we could filter the score by plane this would be easier.
Honestly to get people fighting and dying in different planes i think total kills is the best motivator. (Though not necessarily the best indicator of skill)
-
What is this thing called skill?
-
Kills per death kind of levels the playing field for guys that dont play much. Im lucky to get a few days a weekend some months.
-
that would also encourage very timid play. and once you get a few kills you'd stop playing.
the total scoring system I think is pretty well balanced because even getting tons of kills is only 1 of 5 categories
-
Yeah, that's sort of why I like K/S after a # of sorties, because it's good for players who can't play all day, and its very hard to game it, especially in harder aircraft. Unfortunately K/S per plane per person would be hard to measure, and would have to go by the honor system...
I feel like K/D would be the best way to measure it, even though players would perceptionally fly timidly. Though I find it very difficult to fly timidly in harder slower planes that take more patients. It would still be challenging to score a hi K/D in harder planes.
-
Maybe Hitech could post planes/rules on the MOTD.. hint :)
-
Bould be nice to see a bunch of Bf110c4 fighting each other in Melee :old:
-
anything different would be nice :)

It's mostly about flying a more challenging plane. At least that's the way I think of it.
Maybe there should be three victors: Most Kills, Best K/D (25 or more kills) and Most Combat (combined kills + deaths). Or average all three metrics for one winner.
Only air to air kills should count.

Maybe just (kills-deaths)? This is a metric I often used in my plane analyses to quickly judge 'domination'.

I like that even better. Kills, K/D and usage are all summed up with one number. :aok
Player A has 44 kills and 2 deaths = 42
Player B has 88 kills and 20 deaths = 68 <- Winner!
-
What about 0 kills and 20 deaths? :/
Those players will just give up lol

People are free to pick and choose. People that give updo not play. They can still do the rest of the game.
Question is.. who may go on the hunt for folks participating in this?
They may make another game inside this game too.

This seems like a good way to do it.
Something like the i16 or d3 would be fun.

If the reward goes to the top 3 players, 99% of the players will mot even try.
Give something for everyone. For example, raise its ENY to 50, so it becomes a perk harvester. I sure need a boost to carry me past the 25,000 perks mark... . Yeh perks are mostly useless, but players still like to hoard them.
Anything that breathes a bit of life to the game and community. I am pretty much burnt out. My last login there were no other loose deuces around, barely any air combat on the rook fronts and the map was buzzki.. err.. I mean buzzsaw.
Went surfing for pr0n instead.

That is a great idea too and could be a standard feature for the plane of the month. :aok
Another way would be to add a 2x multiplier for any perks gained in the plane.
-
Face it, if you have been flying mid WWII planes regularly you would not be interested in perks. I have around 60,000. I am almost always in a 38J.

Real man would be flying the G.... :)

Hey, that's great. We should all strive to be so noble and pure. :aok
I got all of mine with the Spit XVI.

I like the G as it turns better because it is lighter and any given fuel load.

doesn't KOTH do this-player who wins picks the next plane.
