Title: Imagine...
Post by: diaster on February 21, 2020, 01:22:14 PM
A future version if this game That has... Ground troops. 1st person shooter gameplay added in, like WW2OL. Imagine those little dudes sneaking up on tanks, after getting out of theirs and planting demo charges. Panzerfousts in the hills above town. Manned ack cannons in town. Shooting a guy manning a ground gun with your pistol. You plane spawns in on the field and you have to run to it and Snipers shooting pilots while they dash to or are in The cockpits. C47S dropping real guys who sneak into the map room. Imagine a ground force hitting a base in vehicles setting up kill boxes... Imagine a grnersl running the whole thing.. oh yeah, Battlefield series. But in this game with these maps... wow. It would be a true melee as all those ground pounders from BF series would flock to it. It would be one of The biggest and richest online games out  there.  It’s called a paradigm shift.

WW2OL has Airborne capability.
Big difference is that you don't take a single objective like a maproom.
You have to take (and most importantly hold) all the command points in a town to take the town instead of a base.
Truly a boots in the mud ground war.

An Infantry component in AH would be something even if only available via m3 or goon supplied troops.

And destructible environments.  And deformable terrain.  And a down-to-the-rivet vehicle damage model.  And ships.  And submarines.  And casinos.  And an amusement park.  And hunting/fishing.  And card games.  And the ability to play as an animal, like a drop bear or a wombat.  And the ability to design your own vehicle or aircraft and build it.  And player housing.  And bowling alleys.  And farming.  And animal husbandry.

I'm sold!

Is it still a ww2 flight sim when it's Aces Empty?  Now that is a philosophical question.   :t

LoL.  I knew wiley and the "Usual Suspects" No-Police would have a field day with this one.   :rofl

Hitech has long considered the idea, BTW.  A million years ago I had visited their office and Hitech was telling about what he'd like to do someday.  I don't remember all the details,  I was too amused watching Pyro count to 10.  :rofl

Hey, if we're ignoring things like "practicality", may as well swing for the fences.  Imagine if HTC created OASIS from Ready Player One!  It would be awesome!

I have always wanted to rent one of the houses in the city, then spend perks on lavish interior furnishings.

Hey.  Now you got me thinking.

Custom hangars that you can bling up with micro transactions.  Girly posters.  Fuselage panels on the wall with the squad logo of your latest kills.  :D  Pilot skulls or silver chalices, take your pick.

In BF, when you sneak up on someone and knife them, you get to rip off their custom player dog-tags and keep them in your collection forever.  Like shrunken heads.  :rofl

I want my bowling lane placed inside my B-17.  I can work on my game while flying 2 hours to target.

As long as my frame rate and dogfight flying are not affected I don't care what other extras are added. But the ONLY reason I use AH is for WW2 fighter flying. If that deteriorates noticeably I'm gone.

I think adding some mobile ground troop AI with anti-tank weapons, anti-air, and small arms would be a great addition and not deviate from the "pilot" or "driver" aspect of the game. It would make you more alert when approaching a town if there is a patrol and give your 7.62 machine gun on a vehicle much more purpose.

But the bigger priority should be in getting more models and variety for the towns. Make maps with roads that give you a speed boost/advantage actually going into the towns from the spawn. That way you can make a real choice between dashing to town along the road where someone with a stug III can be waiting for you, or taking a detour on the side roads and farms and forests.

As much as someone might want to daydream about AH becoming a FPS or subsim .... it's not gonna be. We have the best WWII fighter plane sim complete with some tanks/vehicles and ship task forces. Other than that, we have auto drunks to capture fields (or not). If you were to write down every element of Aces High, the planes, vehicles, ships, shore batteries, terrain elements, cloud environments, etc. then it might become evident how full and rich this game is with an amazingly small and talented staff to support it. :)

(Besides - this is a 'wish list' item.) ;)

Meh.  All the same arguments were made when the first tanks were added.  Yet they were added.  The world didn't end.

No on can know what the future holds, but it's more likely than the Spanish Civil War.

Actually, a Spanish Civil War plane set and terrain are a lot more likely than making AHII a first person shooter or submarine sim. Guess your college critical thinking got in your way there.  :D

Other than AAA, I don't think anti air were available during WWII

Not gonna happen.

And it still stands a better chance.  ;)

Honestly, with your vested interest in the WWI AI arena, you'd think an environment of uber bipes and metal monos (being new and rare) would appeal to you.

Let's see - we got a 109 and an I-16 ... He-111 ....

C'mon, you know you want this.

Yes, you do.   :D

Ground anti-air could range from troops using .30 cal rifles to mobile machine guns to mobile AA guns. Point is that it would be nice to have more dynamics when taking over a town than just doing the same routine over and over on the same town model with the same gun positions.

Why we need armed players
can it be classified as anti-aircraft fire ?

Oh man, are you confused. Dale will try what Dale will try. AAMOF, he's tried already.

I have created an entire new game last year wanting to try out some ideas, and even for free it failed miserably.

I just know what he's tried that worked .... and worked quite well. If he had either a FPS or sub sim that could compete with games that were designed specifically to be one or the other we'd have seen a hint from him about it. Our shared daydreams are nice and all (we all share them in the wish list) but he picks and chooses what to pursue. I accept that better than you seem to realize. :)

I listen to all the suggestions, whines. squeakes, good ideas, and selfish requests, but only I can make the choices if anything any player post is good or bad, will be or won't be implemented or changed. What I just stated is not arrogance it is simply the way the world works. Some one needs to make the choices, and I'm the one responsible to do so. But players like you will always like some things and not like others. They will only squeak about the few things they don't like and not realize the 1000's of things they do like all were choices made by the same guy.
