I would really like to play this game as if my grandchildren we're setting here with me. I taught my grandson how to count to four by the cyclic rate of the T 34 tank 1, 2, 3, 4 fire. Today when I asked someone to please watch their language they told me they would say what the f*** they want. Other players chimed in and said they will say what the f*** they want. It was suggested I quit the game and go play church bingo. I don't consider myself a prude I served 3 years in the army and lived in the barracks. I never had an office job I worked in construction. My last job was at a state prison. I try to conduct myself as if your wife , mother or children was hearing my conversation. I can't tell you how disgusted I am with these people!

Good for you. I'd like to see adults exhibiting self-control in the game, as well. I work on it both in and out of game. I have been known to come up with somewhat inventive pseudo-cussing, however.

Yeah, those that wail on like a 12 year old on the playground are pretty much without self control, and lack a vocabulary of word with more than four letters. Don’t quit because of their lack of emotional control. :salute
A preferred way to deal with those who can’t resist the simpleton vocabulary is to mute them. For those most part, they don’t have anything game essential to say anyway.

I understand an occasional outburst followed by a quick apology, however when my 6 year old is playing a game on the computer beside me and keeps saying "bad word" because of what she hears coming out of AH I think it's a bit much.
I do squelch the worst offenders as well as the people who think they're at the bar and babble incessantly as it's very distracting. I just wish that I didn't have to re-squelch everyone every time I logged in.

There were a few that I would log in and after a minute for the roster to load I would search the list to see if they were on and squelch them before I even looked for a fight. It is the way I learned to spell "squelch" btw :)
A sign of maturity is learning to watch your language, unfortunately some people never grow up. Calling them out on the radio, or even asking them to cool it is only going to fire up the other morons.
Squelch and .report is the best think to do.

A lot of folks did not have good parents. You can spot the ones a mile away.
Just use the chat/voice report and move on.

These are the kinds of comments I do not understand. Why can't you just say "report and move on." Why poke at people's parents? Profanity and morals are looser outside of the Bible Belt, this a sociological and geographical fact in the United States. It has nothing to do with parents because the same facts are true for them in most cases.

I tell kids they are a window into their family. They really are. You can tell a lot about a family and the parents by how the kids act.

That's the point. There are people who play with family in the room or near enough to hear what is going on. There are some like me who will throw out the odd swear word now and then and there are some for whom it is a form of speech impediment. We invite these people into our homes, is it too much to ask that they respect that?

And this is a reason to allow adults who never learned how to behave to continue to spoil the game for those who would rather not hear it? The rules are there, and it's the choice of those who can't control themselves to leave, not the other way around.

You can't force them. In which case the game gets a rating and turns to 18 and over. Not sure how that works with how AH is setup.

Wearing headphones still doesn’t solve the problem of the verbal chest thumpers. These types are usually yapping continually and jamming up the channel anyway. It only shields those within hearing distance of your computer. Squelch provides an immediate solution. .Report provides follow up emphasis from HiTech.

Squelch early squelch often report as needed. Controlling online behavior will never be perfect. If you're that concerned about your kids detune everything, they likely aren't using channels anyways right?

The flaw is in those who never grow up.... the ones using the language. It is just another reason some left I am sure.
You simply can't avoid those of poor character online. In public you can avoid areas where the bottom feeders stay. Online they kind of permeate.

Use squelch...keep ur grandkids away from the idiots that you know are on here that have been here just as long as you have...
There is the dot report feature that you know about that you can use...but we're gonna come here and make the game look like its filled with tons of foul mouthed younguns on here that have no self control...

Sunday evening about 9:30 I have a player call me and want's to complain about moderates because he just received the result of a 2 week mute by being reported.
Before I could begin to discuss the situation he threatens that he will then simply put something in is squad name complaining about the moderators. I don't think I have ever been so angry at a customer on the phone in the last 20 years. Because.
1. Its late Sunday, I'm enjoying a scotch watching TV. 2. I'm nice enough to answer the company phone in case a player cant get in for some reason (normally forgotten login). 3. Suddenly I have a player swearing at me on the phone. 3. I now have to go up stairs to my office and search the logs, find the reports and hence the player id. 4. Find all the entries I need to block him. 5. Go into the arena and type .eject
30 mins later he calls back :rolleyes: by this time I am calm and get to play the extremely over polite person on the phone.

It is not about me. I am just saying that policing 200 grown, adult men is a can of worms. The easiest solution is to customize the environment to your liking by squelching those who you do not want to hear. Yes, I think whining about it here is petty.

If most people in the MA swear about everything and people who swear are not intelligent, how then is the MA a salon full of intelligence to which I should abstain?
"inhabit" is the word you were looking for.
Still, I think you miss my point Copprhead as I am not defending the poopy mouths but rather am criticizing those who have no cladding. Those who come here and complain about grown men who like war and cursing are petty, simple as that. It is embarrassing, especially when there is an ingenious tool at your disposal (.squelch and .report). We also have a developer that is willing to take customer service calls on weekend nights about seemingly anything. You have plenty of tools, is my point, use them instead of coming here to crusade for your morality and how much taller your horse is.
Like Private Gump, that is all I have to say about that.

I have a question. What makes the F-word so bad? I feel like there are much worse derogatory terms one could use.
As for tolerance, there has to be tolerance. Everyone slips up once in a while. I can't speak for HTC, but what I can say is that as a volunteer who helps run Special Events in the game is that I don't condone swearing, especially excessive, needless use of it on range vox. With that said, I don't think there's any true way to police it like there is the bad word filter.

The rules are in place and each customer has the ability to squelch and report the offender. Hitech did a good job with this issue.
Remember that for most foul language to be received the offender has to push a button or type a message before it is transmitted. I cuss often, but it doesn't go over vox or in the message box. This is not an accidental slip of language, but intentional.
Those people that cannot respect the rights of others should not be allowed to play with them....basic kindergarten rule.

The thing is, you get a hundred or two people together, you're not going ot all conduct yourselves to each others' standards. The tools are there. Use them, and accept that in life you may be exposed to things you don't find pleasant.
