I was running the DX11 version and for some reason, the screen would freeze. I lost a 262 the other night when this happened so I switched to the DV9 version and all ran smooth. You can see the film on last night's highlights in the film I will post in the appropriate section. One thing it does do, when I want to go to the desktop it takes about 10 seconds to switch. If my plane is flying on autopilot, I would come back to see it crashed. Oh well, still fun!

Obviously you need to take your computer to obedience training.

I dont know about THAT severe type of hiccup freeze , but minor 1 second long periodic freezes in dozens of video games that offer directX11 were from some form of GARBAGE COLLECTION in the video card and libraries.
In recent years the code to do that spreads out the garbage collection more and does nto do it in long annoying delay.
Even though I have a 1080ti i use directX9 versions of games when I can, if it is competitive, because of my past rage at minor hiccups in large view 3d games.
i usually use the non-directX11 version of aces high, the dircetx9.
Sorry to hear about your big problem.
not enough system ram? not enough free C drive space? not enough free GPU ram (tools can show that real time).
maybe some background app or tool was updating itself after downloading, even though your mouse and keyboard indicate a active user.
maybe late night/early morning DISK DE-FRAGMENTATION forced on you in windows 7... i permanently disable disk defragment in OS in windows.
too much to ponder.
sorry about your issue.

Did you confirm this some where? I was fairly sure this is what it was but never found a definitive answer. I have always been looking for a work around.
I may have just thought of one possibility. Have and option for Aces High to close DX11 and restart it at the end or beginning of every flight.

Does it happen less often in video cards with more memory?

Thank you. Have plenty of memory and disc space. I am updating GPU drivers. Tonight I was getting a 5-second freeze every 10 to 15 seconds, which, makes it tough to fight. I have 121 + frames/sec/ BWIstpar said he is having the same issues tonight

As weird as it sounds the only problem I have with DX11 is an occasional stutter you mentioned, usually only last a second but it is annoying. I just started having this problem until around thanksgiving I think.
Unfortunately the DX9 version locks my entire system when I try to exit the game and even a 3 finger salute can't get me out. I usually end up having to hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
I also have a 1080ti however, this system is 5 years old (replaced the original r9 390x with the 1080ti) and has never been wiped and reinstalled (and I did an AMD to Nvidia upgrade).
If any one hasn't noticed all those big Win 10 update are somewhere between a service pack and a full on OS upgrade to a new version. I couldn't even update to the last version that came out.

I deleted and reinstalled AH3, works fine now...thanks for your help!

Thanks for posting the fix.

When reinstalling does it remap.all your controller settings?
-
I believe it will. Just make a copy of the settings folder before reinstalling and paste contents back into the new one.
-
If you reinstall to the same location the game uses the old settings folder. It's still a good idea to keep a copy of your settings folder or at least your .jsm files.

Yes, I did do that. Made it an easy start-up once it was downloaded and installed! Thank you!

Might give it a try to see if reinstalling helps with the dx11 stutters

I assumed you did. I was just adding to Max's comment.

I have the same issue with the DX11 version of AH, as well as other games that are DX11. I do not have the same problem if the game is DX12.
