And yes, I know the proper way to address this is to HT directly but I'm starting not to care any more. Plus I'm a technophobe and not certain I know how to send the screenshots to HT.
Anyway. I got threatened to be muted for telling 99capera "Stop pretending to be an idiot. You're selfish, but not that." Context was that he knows that if he takes command of a CV then logs off no one else on his team can move it. He does this so that he can do a 2AM noe hitting strats from CV thing (not a bad idea, btw) but other rooks who want to use said CV don't like it because they want to use it too. And he is afk keeping them from using it.
So! Three rooks upped from CV in order to get it killed so they could use it. Success! Then cap logs back on, pretends it was an accident, and commands it again and sends it to the same eventual noe launch point as before. Hence my comment, and then the threatened, then actual, muteage.
Anyway. Point is: nothing I said would have gotten any reasonable moderator upset unless said mod was 99capera. Nothing else I said was even close to warn-worthy.
Which fits. Cap uses CVs for self vs team; and uses mod privileges for self vs game when confronted with it.
This is where the game is going, eh?
-
Once again Osmium.......your paranoia has gotten the better of you. Call Dale and ask him if I am a mod. I have better things to do with my life....than moderate morons like you.
Just because you are unable to see the value in my CV Ops....is not my issue. I get more done in a day.....than you do in a week. If you want to command Rook CVs....then EARN your ranking and take it from me. Other than that.....STFU.
Get some help....you're letting a computer game get the better of you and you look like a fool.
-
So! Three rooks upped from CV in order to get it killed so they could use it. Success!
And there is the problem.....you guys intentionally got the CV sunk...when I was placing it for and Op.
You are the problem
-

I hate to say it Osmium but capera has a very valid point here. Officer rankings exist for a reason, so if he has a higher ranking and has command of the CV, well, it's probably time to find something else to do in the meantime. And if I were in the position of a mod, I'd hand out punishments for sinking allied carriers faster than you can say "snap!"
Sinking allied carriers ain't cool at all.
Besides, if he has it running attacks in the wee hours of the morning....quite frankly why are you on at those hours...... :huh
Plus, if it's assaulting strats anyway, I'd be inclined to just launch off of it anyway and further that attack. It's already on the offensive, and you play the game to fight, right?

You have no idea what you are talking about. As usual. Just because you don't understand what I am doing........should not give you the right to rally Rook to sink one of our own CVs. IF you understood the game....and knowing I had command of the CV.....sinking it would not make any difference to who was in command of it. All you did was send one of OUR assets back to home port. What a dumb thing to do.
Too bad you were not wise enough to see the CV's location potential rather than letting your paranoia set in. Go get some professional help.

LOL last time you had a bit ch fit about this you were proven to be a complete fool via screenshots and you completely deserved getting muted. Bittch who cried wolf?

Don't know what happened and don't care. However any high ranking player taking command of CV group then logging off, so they can do something hours later, is just wrong at every level. Not saying that is what happened, I don't know.
If that happened on my "country" I would up to get it sunk as well.

It takes hours.....to get a CV into position. Seeing you cannot count on countrymen to let the CV get to it's "operational" location....one needs to 'keep' command of the fleet, as it gets into position. Sometimes...this takes hours. It is NOT me being selfish/greedy or anything close to that. I am getting into position to keep the NME's factories down.
I am done talking about this. I serve my country. I keep the strats down for MY countrymen. If anyone has issue with that.......then maybe its time to look at them.

Then you too fail to understand....that intentionally upping to get it sunk, just sends the CV and the commander back to home port. All you did was.....hurt your country.
You are an experienced player. You should know this.

All of this confirms for me that all most of you have is THIS GAME. Let's hope it lasts forever.

ROTFLMAO
Why does the game allow people not playing, to control anything? That is the question.

There should be a way to vote power hungry players out of cv command...just sayin...

It very much is! Yes it is great and very noble that you have a plan to keep the strats down..... hours from now! Which by the way dosent help your country at all when you put this plan in motion. But if you are not actively playing while waiting for the CV to get into position, but are off watching a movie at the cinema for the hours it takes then yes you are being selfish hording the CV group. While you are away waiting for it to get into position it instead could be used to defend or take bases which also helps your country , oh and by the way generates fights which this game is sorely lacking at times.
Now if you launch the CV on this mission and spend the next several hours while it is chugging alone to its target, bombing the strats to keep them down then yes you are nobel and serve your country well........ in a GAME!
Osmium, a .report would mark the logs and a simple email with your concerns would have been the best way to handle this. Not a lot of "tech-savy" needed.

Great thing about opinions is......everyone has one. And you are entitled to yours.
If you don't like the way I command a CV, I suggest you work on your rank and remove me from command. Simple.
Have a nice day.

Let me give an example of what a jerk capera is with carrier command.
1. I'm using a cv, have already sunk enemy cv, and am taking down a field for capture.
2. A certain fighter pilot wants to move the cv to give himself puffy ack cover to kill more enemy fighters and get proxies. This guy (Achoo!) never actually uses a cv for anything else.
3. Achoo whines to capera that I'm suiciding the cv (which is actually what Achoo is trying to do).
4. capera is across the map on a bombing run but says he can't stand players suiciding the cv's and takes control from me to appease Achoo.
5. Achoo then makes fun of me.
6. I switch sides and use one of their cv to totally devastate a rook field for capture and eventually sink the cv capera stole from me.
7. I vowed to never be a rook again because...well...you can see a jerk capera is now...

Are we in the same arena....lol. No idea what you are talking about. Don't even know a player called "Achoo"
For the record....I work with players that are willing to work. Not steam the CV into a base and get it sunk. I like to use the CV as a floating runway, which it is, and deploy off that boat.
So....if that makes me a jerk....so be it. Seems like some folks in here have some maturing to do.

The point is you didn't know what's going on, you're not on the cv or even in the area. The cv was not in danger with me on it.

I guess the ACHOO! nickname I gave him stuck to the ceiling...so to speak.

In fact, as a so called "team player", you changed the battlefield situation so much that rooks went from having upper hand to rooks getting pummeled into dust.

and some folks need to remember that this is a game and if people are having fun with a cv, that taking it away "for hours" is hurting other peoples fun.
Its a case of "the needs of one out weighing the needs of the many" which is just flat wrong. I would hope that HTC would look at this and feel that pissing off a single player to keep a bunch of players happy might be the right way to go and do something about this. Its one of the many little things that players "game" that takes away from the fun for the majority.

Still confused? eh?
I position one of the CVs....driven by map type.....where it is possible to run consecutive missions. The CV is always open for other players to launch from it.....we just ask that, "if you can".....fly NOE till you are far enough away not to give its location away. I have run this operation for several maps...and proved to be quiet effective.
It is not my responsibility to teach operations. I use the CV as an asset to the Rook country. My efforts help players on the front lines, with extended down times.
If you do not like my style of commanding the CV....then WORK and EARN a better ranking than me, then YOU can command the CV.
Said all I am going to on this topic.

And you still dont get it, your not a General, or Admiral! Many of your teammates couldn't care less for your tactics, plans, and operations. They are trying to play a game and you are taking away one of the tools that allow them to play! Its called being selfish.
-
Gosh Darn it, I hate the 99ers, they are so selfish and stupid.
I remember the time they said I had a shade on their side I intercepted them a few times.
These idiots seemed to be oblivious to the slow moving DarBar.
If they don't know about DarBars I'm not surprised they don't know about "Don't be a Dick" :rock

Neither Fugi or I would have to "work" on our rank to take the cv. When we played, rank just happened. Neither of us cared about rank but we're most always able to take a cv if we wanted.

what does taking command of a cv has to do with moderators abuse.
I'm getting anal probed by a really cute Asian doctor on Tuesday, I'll be asleep. now that's abuse.

Sadly, I don't think HT cares much any more. This is more public and more likely to get a response. I've tried the e-mail thing before and was ignored. So here we are.

Yeah, but you guys are good and tend to play hours when more ppl are present. 99Cap is decent and tends to play off-hours when achieving rank is very much easier. It's very easy to get a high (low?) rank is that's what you're after and put team 2nd vs self. And that's his M.O.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)
Not denigrating cap totally. He does do useful stuff for team. But self comes 1st.
'Fess up, cap. It takes all kinds etc.
If you're REALLY the team player you pretend to be, you'll sacrifice some fun you hope to have six hours from now so teammates can have fun in the present, while you are sleeping.
Makes sense?

I play both early morning and prime time, Atlantic Standard time. Not driven by score...but by real life.
Not denigrating cap totally. He does do useful stuff for team. But self comes 1st.
Show me a player in Aces High that does not work on his or her score. You are making no sense. 90% of the time, I am lowering STRATS. Sure is selfish of me, eh?
If you're REALLY the team player you pretend to be, you'll sacrifice some fun you hope to have six hours from now so teammates can have fun in the present, while you are sleeping.
Love the 'sleeping' accusation. The only time I keep command overnight, is when the CV is 8 sector deep. On those big maps, if saves us having to fly 8 sectors to the back strats. So when the CV is in that back country position, I keep command....as to keep inexperienced players from unknowingly moving it into harms way. The other night I stepped away for 45 min, while the CV steamed into position. This is when you and your weak minded friends thought it was a better decision to "intentionally" get OUR CV sunk. The CV was steaming to get INTO position, so that ANY Rook could use it...to gain access to the enemy's back country. But....you decided that I should not being doing this and rallied the Rooks to sink it. Are you sure you are Rook?
Intentionally sinking CV25
There were at least 5 CV groups to choose from that night...but it was the CV I had control over you had issue with. Think about that for a min.....you intentionally got a Rook asset destroyed. You claim to know the sim, inside n out and that you are smarter than most....but yet you failed to understand that getting a CV sunk, does not remove the commander from the command. Does your actions sound like a "team player"? Rallying other Rooks to help give our CV away? What it sounds like to me is....you have a personal grudge against me, and you will do or say anything to disrupt my game play. I verbally requested to you, in game on vox, for you to give this up and leave me alone in the sim.....you refused. You actually replied..."whatcha gonna do"...over and over. What you were doing was simply harassing me in the arena.
I'm done, Osmium. If you keep this harassment up..... I will deal with it. That you can bank on.

Ehehe I'm with oldman. *sheepishly raises hand
Even so, I still like to increase my killstreak on the Mossy, but overall I'm oriented towards just getting better at ACM.
I'm still with 99capera on this issue though, it's just downright unsportsmanlike to sink an allied carrier, REGARDLESS of circumstance. If you REALLY have a problem with how he uses CVs, JUST SWITCH YOUR FRIGGIN' COUNTRY!!
-
What happens if you have control of a carrier and log off and say X happens? What then?
X = your computer or hard drive fails?
Or you fall off your chair and crack your skull open, loose consciousness, gain temporary amnesia for a month, I guess it’s OK to keep control until you come back? If you even remember to come back….
-
Well hopefully your first concern is for his health and safety and not for the state of a single part of the game if that happens. :rofl :rofl
Besides, MA maps change every few days.

The CV doesn't get attacked. It is hidden.....and missions off it, are NOE. Unless....a noob or someone with mind set like Osmium's comes along and gives it away.
-
Someone messing around can find it. May just be on a long climb out.
-
Someone messing around can find it. May just be on a long climb out.
I have compensated for the "long climb out" threat....in the placement of the CV. The only thing that will ruin this asset being discovered is a player gives it's location away.
Yes...there is a rare chance that someone might discover it naturally, but it has not happened yet. I have had these CV's at these positions for days. What a great asset to have way back in NME territory, one just needs to be smart enough to recognize it's tactical value and not disrupt operations.
Most understand what I am doing...and enjoy the rewards of my efforts on the front lines.
-
You are not protecting it. It is vulnerable. Simple as that.

Log off, lose control of the CV.
How much more simple can that be?

I never use intel I gained as rook when I go bish. Or vice versa.
That being said...
I DO remember player tendencies.
If your hidden CV gets sunk while you are sleeping because I know where it is likely to be, and then gets stuck at rook port and no one can move it, guess why, fellow rooks.
-
I never use intel I gained as rook when I go bish. Or vice versa.
No...you did worst. You intentionally got our CV sunk, while serving as a Rook.

Or someone on the other side with a passion for strategic / meta gameplay and experience comes along.
First, anyone around here for some time could knows about the way you are using the CV on certain maps. (It's nothing new or unique either, it's just with the low numbers of these days you are probably the last player left to do these things).
What I used to do on certain maps is checking the strats for damage patterns with the dt command. Damage from bombers has a markedly different pattern from Jabo or CA/BB bombardment, both in time and spatial distribution. So when I would notice someone is hitting the strats with NOE jabos, I very well might come to the conclusion that there may be a CV involved.
At this point I would (and in the past often have) up a single Arado with DTs and a single bomb and go scouting. If I actually found a CV it was near the strats most of the time, but If I knew you were on another team I wouldn't hesitate to scan vast areas... and on most maps it boils down to a few places. The oceans are not as large anymore as they used to be with the megamaps anyway.
Of course doing such or similar things has gotten me quite a number of "cheater" calls in the past. But then people also don't believe one can find a bomber mission by watching sector dar moving across the map. ;)

Huh, so this is still a thing. Someone of high rank takes command of CV and logs off, there by locking the CV to everyone unless they are a higher rank than the person who logged off.
Why is this a thing? :headscratch:
-
You definitely do not get it.
Oh.. I get it. You troll these forums more than you fly. No matter how its explained, you are determined not to see a tactical value in what I do....and again, that's ok, as it is not my job to educate you or train you. If you want to remain naive and ignorant, your choice.
So... I will continue to manage the CV groups in the manner I chose. IF you and anyone else does not agree with that, then work hard (like I had to)...earn a better rank and take it from me. That....or pay my $14.95 a month and then you can dictate to me how to play.

How does being a team player and doing whatever you want, no matter what your team mates want, go together?
Apparently your definition of team player and dictator are interchangeable.
You spend all of your time achieving a high rank and then dictate whatever you can with your rank. That doesn't sound very fun.
We like to have fun. Can you comprehend that? Can you let us have fun? Are you willing to be a team player? or a dictator?

Your curlers are in too tight, Karen.
I have no issues with being a team player. I work with a lot of other 'normal' players. The dysfunctional ones in the sim...are the ones that no matter how you explain it to them, they still have that glazed look in their eyes. They cannot help it...I guess.
When you start keeping the strats down....as much as I do.....come back here and spew. Until then....think it's time to shut your pie hole.

All done here....Trolls. Been fun. :aok

:rofl I'm sorry you have to work hard for rank. You are allowed to spend your money as you wish, even though it may impact others negatively. Some care about the game and some do not.

Exactly what I do. But I only rarely hunt the CV once I've figured out one must be there. Depends on how recent the damage is, mostly. And how predictable the CV location is.
-
Make some new posts and bury this garbage.
I'd rather see a play by play of climbing to 30k in bombers.
-
It takes hours.....to get a CV into position.
You are acting as if the CV is yours.
If you log off you should not be able to keep command. That's just selfish and wrong.
this is a game, not a real war.
Yeah, you have the rank to do that but that's BS.
-
And just a few years ago the 49ers had the game changed on them to stop their missions that required huge investments in time.
The same people who were screaming then are OK with players who are not logged in controlling assets.
-

Let other people have fun with the CV when you're not logged in. I can't believe anyone would even try to justify some of this stuff.

Dude...go outside.
-
Maybe the person just goes AFK for hours? Is that what is happening?
I wonder if there could be a timer that automatically releases the CVs after 30 minutes or so? Or maybe not allow the same person to control the CV for more than an hour - and then they have to wait an hour before they can control it again. Something like that.

CV groups are easy to find with the predictable behavior of the people controlling them.
It was fun hunting with a long pt boat drive until pt boats became visible on far no matter where they are on the map.

they caused a lot of players to quit. a single cv is not that big of a deal. dar being down for hours just to annoy was dumb.

<<S>> Lusche, it has been a long while since we tangled, my friend. Hope to see you in the (un)friendly skies sometime. Hope you're doing well.
Actually, we tangled a bit recently. :D I came back about three weeks for a short visit, but like so often in the past 7 years under a different name, though these days I'm more often than not sitting in a tower watching an empty map.

That's funny. I found the 49ers the first time they pulled off one of those missions.
It looked fun so later joined them for a few.
The problem is people decide to want to outlaw behavior before even thinking about the fun that can be had on both sides.
Many of the whiners' names here on the forums were the same names I saw on my films repeatedly upping a plane and bailing to see if someone on the ground is awarded a kill and then disappearing from the roster for a few minutes before coming back.
I stumbled upon a friendly once near of enemy strats in a m4 as I bombed them so I landed and drove a m3 with him to the HQ.
The game has suffered so a certain vocal group can satisfy their need for instant gratification instead of enjoying the different dynamics.
This one is from 2013
