Can we get more of them at even lower altitudes? Maybe fog and marine layer too?
Seriously, enough, currently it’s way overboard. Not sure why the changes, but it just hinders ftr 2 ftr combat even more. The new maps were definitely a big improvement, thank you Kenai for your work, but clouds at 6-12k nearly constant is a step backwards. :bhead
The quantity and interval of clouds previously was just fine, please let this be a trial period.

Like the idea of a low haze or fog over a base. Maybe a coastal one… this is a good suggestion!

It was tried. Since it’s not used anymore does that tell you anything?
It was similar to a coastal marine layer and would be considerably more tolerable than this current 💩
-
Another benefit to marine layer or low cloud base would be a reduction of bomb tarding a GV battle. Not to mention, the reality.
-
The problem with your suggestions is that it seems that there are only a few people whose suggestions would be considered (and most likely implemented) If you aren't one of those people I think you're better off trying to find one of those people and bribing them to ask on you behalf :)

My taje?
Yall are trying to game nature. Just make it realistic, and deal with it like real pilots of the time. A lot if suggestions I read are very plastic. No offense intended.
Realistic is realistic, despite game play. Play around reality.
That said, fat chance. Dreams are just dreams.
I think reality should be what reality is.

Imo the amount, interval and altitudes of clouds prior to a few weeks ago was realistic. On a scale I’d say we were at a 2, somehow we jumped to 7-8 al, of a sudden. It’s not just the new maps either, noticed that Fjord had them too.
-
Each map has its own "Cloud" file. Thus they can be customized for each map, ie cloud layers over strats as opposed to other areas. They can be used to encourage bombers and fighters to lower altitudes. Weather fronts are also on a one hour timer, much like the day time and night time in the game. Then you have the type of clouds, the saturation level, lol it gets complicated real fast. Each type of cloud has its altitude range, get that wrong and you have the Icon problem we had in etoma, learned that one the hard way.
-
My saturation point is about 2 pitchers of frozen margaritas with shots on top. It must be noted that my flying generally shows the effects far prior to full saturation. Further studies are in the works.
-
LOL Shuffler, I have NEVER noticed your flying skill diminish in anyway. :salute

The bar is set pretty lowish...

Indeed.... :rofl
Lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut.

As discovered while watching our super star ah pilots on YouTube, be sure to have that aim assist checked under flight in settings as it puts a nice box around your closest target that is visible in all but the thickest clouds..
You are welcome

Eww like the idea of a fog layer over the airfield, maybe a break zone out of 50 to 100 ft before threshold, would add some excitement
to the landings, now days I usually just belly it in so as to stop quicker and get it over with.

Monday Night Madness in AvA has had fog, like this for years! Never once heard a whine..it makes for some awesome fights too!

I asked Hitech about using the Overcast weather on one of my maps, and he said it wasn't appropriate for the MA.

Looks like you need to get somebody else to ask for you popeye :)
On a serious note. How much time would it take to create a very small map with 3 bases in a triangle on an island with 3 gv spawns in the middle of that island close to each other? I'd be interested in hosting something like that in player areanas. The closest I've found to it is the myterr map but it doesn't have spawns in the middle and it has a big hill there that I don't think would make for go gving.

A map builder could make something like that for you in an afternoon.
I tried it once. DmonSlayer was convinced he knew the layout that would attract action. I offered to build it for him to spec. I made none of the decisions. Just built it exactly how he asked for it. He flew it gave some feed back and I made those changes too. Made it custom to exactly the spec that he said would be a great hit.
I hosted it on a spare machine 24/7 for two weeks. Dmonslayer and one other guy showed up for an hour on the first day and then nothing.
In defense of DmonSlayer (ooofff I hate doing that) I don't think anything off the front tab will ever be seen\noticed. Only the Special Events tab is different because people are scheduled to go there on a specific day at a specific time for an event. Anything other than that off the main tab is invisible.
And if it was on the front tab it might not matter. It is a necessary but perhaps not sufficient condition.
-
Aye. I agree. I thought the same about hosting a map. "if you build it they will come" but they don't.
I'm not looking for it to be a great hit or something like that. I'm looking for it to play with my kids and maybe some friends and anybody else who might wander along when it was up?
Do you still have that map? I'd be interested. It sounds like the same kinda of idea.
How much difference in workload is it to edit an existing map vs creating something simple from scratch?
I mean for example: Would it be easier to take a map like myterr and flatten the mountain in the middle and put gv spawn points there or would it be easier to start from scratch?
Also, how much work would it take to add a flight of drones for each country? It wouldn't be anything like the western front areana (which I think is very well done) Maybe something more like the FFA with just random planes flying around.

The map I am referring to I thing is listed as: "Cpt. Trip's Furball FFA 1". I think that was our final version. Don't think it had vehicle spawn-points as DmonSlayer is all about air combat. ;)
I don't have the source. I deleted all my map and mission stuff. I'm not going to go dig through archive CD's. ;)
What you are talking about it fairly small and simple. My recommendation is to make it a good first learning project and make your own map and setup you own AI mission. Maybe make it a learning activity with your kids.
You'd get it exactly like you want and walk away with a useful bit of knowledge.
[Edit]
You might also look at "Combat for H2H by Easyscor". I believe he tried something similar with not much better results.

In the H2H days, you could host a terrain and fill the room often. Those days are gone.

I appreciate the info and I'll look for that map. I have looked into creating my own map, however it didn't seem intuitive to me and What I want to avoid is taking 12 hours to learn something that could have been done in 30 minutes by somebody who knew what they were doing. If I was going to do more then one map it would make sense for me. Who knows maybe I'll find a bunch of free time to do it but I'm guessing it's not likely :)

You probably could today too.. but the clunky and not very visible interface of the login screen would likely cut into those results.

My Shuff's Paradise was used quite a lot in H2H. I had several terrains for that setup. Did not take long to make.... they are nothing compared to a MA terrain. I take my hat off to those fellas. They are truly devoted.

I spent quite a few hours of my youth in Shufflers Paradise.
I was either. NewU*** numbers guy, or I think lookout was my first callsign in the H2H arenas. Towards the end of my H2H days picked up the callsign Lazer and started getting slaughtered in the MA filled with 700+. Lol
