This started happening couple month ago. My sound goes quiet - someone is talking on range channel, i can see name displayed, but there is no sound, as if they have no mic. This takes long time - seems like 5-10 seconds and then stops.
I cannot transmit until this goes away. Just sit there and wait.
Never had this problem before, it started late last year. Anyone else ?
-
Yes for a long time. I am constantly hitting .resetv
I should probably go through all my drivers or maybe it is the game?

Seems like many are complaining about vox issues lately...more than normal imo
As intermittent as it sounds probably be a royal pita to troubleshoot

One reason for voice communication issues is poor connections. And it affects all apps, not only in-game vox. I've been noticing similar issues randomly with Discord, not only on my side but also some 500 km away. Rebooting both the computer and the modem doesn't necessarily help. It also seems to affect both wired systems like TV cable and mobile broadband - one common nominator with those is that the actual speed depends on the number of users and their data usage. Could a third party supporting or from another country cause extra traffic, I can't tell. For LTE that is a possibility here close to the Eastern border, nothing has been officially informed but sometimes it seems like they'd be "routinely testing" their radio interference devices.
As the Internet is a network jamming in one place may well mirror to other locations far away by routing more traffic through them.

Had this problem for years, on both LTE hotspot 130ms pings and wired fiber 40ms pings. I can be conversing with another player on range, then see his gameid as he transmits but not hear it. This happens so frequently that I get tired of asking them to repeat the transmission. My Net Status is flat with no warping or other obvious connect problems. Just updated the sound driver from one that was 9 years old to a "new" 8 year old version. Will see how it goes....
So, if when a player says something to me and I don't reply, I'm not being rude -- just didn't hear you. :O

Does discord let me talk to people on range? Didn't think so. Do you post anything relevant in any forum??? Or is just here you come to type stupid things and promote other games?

are you the post nazi?
Half the people on range either don't talk or place themselves in charge of the scene

Half of what? 2... 10? I currently play and can confirm you are just flapping your lipz...
Fade away......

A few weeks ago Windows Defender/firewall asked me to confirm the AH exe file. Which was odd because I never DLed a new version, which could trigger that, or if something changed in the connection. <shrug> just s fleeting thought.
I don’t know what this means, nor if anything changed, it was just an oddity during the same timeline this issue started.

You may have triggered it with the setting changes you made.

This has been a problem for me for quite some time and it's new. My connection is good and I use Discord, with no issues, but it doesn't replace in game VOX. Something somewhere is dorked with VOX. It could be anything between the client and the game. I don't think it's the game because most in my squad don't experience this issue.
-
On range, there's a four second time-limit that will cut off transmission. Thank goodness.

I've heard the word discord so many times, I'm already burned out on it, and never been there or used it yet.... I think I'll pass. The people who spread it aren't the most desirable to be around. I wonder if that speaks for it's masses.

It's not my voice transmission that gets cut off. It's incoming audio that gets cut off.

It's a tool and as such it can be used in many ways. Similarly to a hammer with which you can drive nails into wood to build something, or you can hit your fingers, bang your head, smash pumpkins...
You can join a massive group and suffer the consequences or you can make your own group for your squad. Fortunately you can only listen to one group at a time!
We've used Discord in AH during scenarios to keep the "official" channels open for instructions and reduce the distraction caused by the hullabaloo of drunken Finns. In normal flying AH vox is of less hassle although there's one advantage with Discord: There's a three seconds delay in vox because of the distance. But as said, having several voice communication apps on can cause issues unless you meticulously check the key mappings of each and every program. Voice activation can help but if you get used to it and someone talks to you through AH vox you may forget to push the tangent for answering. Plus if there's lots of activity on both medias it'll be a cacophony.

I was using sarcasm. But, I really have no need for it. I barely use vox

Sarcasm aside, and as I said vox is the only option for us here as well unless there's something special going on. May my comment serve those who ponder upon whether one would be better than the other.

When I hit T to talk, everything freezes for 1 sec. So I minimize the use.
You always have good advice. I’m just being a smart ars.

Sounds almost like T would like to do something else as well. Have you tried assigning Talk to another button for testing?
-
Yes, I've tried all basic troubleshooting steps. Used different buttons same problem with VOX.

I had that issue before with a USB headset. I tried updating drivers and changing USB ports, but to no avail.
I switched to a USB sound card with 3.5mm plug. The micro stutter issue went away.

Hmm never looked to see if my sound card has usb. I’ve got it into a usb hub.
For whatva reason, my $400 comm HS has 1/8” jacks and the computer doesn’t see them, had to buy a $30 Koss HS.
Gonna have to look into what you posted. Thanks for the heads-up.

I've tried many headsets. Gave up on USB and have used a HyperX Alpha (3.5mm) for a while now. Like it so much I bought a second in case the first ever fails and they've stopped making it.

Hmm may have figured it out. We have same problem at work with direct boxes. Its no longer 1/8” its 3.5mm. Too thin for connection. It finally just popped in my old head. I converted a single 4 pin xlr comm connection to two 1/8” jacks for older PC. Wow, I was slow on this one. Forgot all about the difference. Going to prolly swap out for 3.5mm. I should have picked up on this. Soon as I saw 3.5mm a lightbulb went on. “That’s it!”

do you have the option on preferences>voice>play voices in sequence selected?

A USB headset will rely on the headset hardware for amplification of both the input and output signals. A 3.5mm will use the amplifier of whatever it is plugged into. Typically that's the sound device on the motherboard. With poor hearing I sometimes find it hard to hear people using a USB mic. Many have said my headset mic is very loud and clear. I can boost it up to 20db above 100% of the Windows volume control.
-
If you use speakers connected to 3.5 (maybe at the rear of the pc) and a headset connected to different 3.5 (maybe the front of the pc) there is a handy little free app that allows you to switch them easily with an icon on the task bar to show you which is active.

Do any of you having the hangup problem using Voice Attack? I stopped using it the last few weeks and it seems like it might be better but it's hard to tell when you don't know if people are speaking to you if you can't hear them.
