I've been seeing a lot of people lately with really stupid names. They just lack creativity and originality. I think that the worst of them by far is Player1, I mean seriously, who the hell names themselves Player1?

I returned to AH 2 weeks ago with a cool one of a kind name. Then I landed kills for the first time and a bunch of jealous haters must have complained because within seconds of the system announcement I was text muted even though I was nice to everybody.

I am not that easy to offend. However I do play the game through my speakers and not a headset. Others in my home do not need to hear 'Fistfuqr' spoken in my house. I am sure you know there should be boundaries but hey, it is the Internet so anything goes right?
I am sure when your kid yells out 'Hey Fistfuqr' in the supermarket you will look on him / her with pride. I don't.
Sure I could not play internet games and not expose others to this but TBH the problem is not my lack of toughness or my over sensitivity that needs to be addressed, it is your lack of class and manners.

You being one of my first bellybutton kickers in this game that taught me quite a bit about ACM and out turning planes that generally are suppose to turn better. I agree with you, I've never actually had the chance to fly real planes. But because of this game, I know so much about ACM and tactics that I'm pretty sure I could perform them in a real plane givin a chance to learn the control surfaces of the planes first. This game is different than most because you can actually perform the tactics in real life in most planes, and considering the size of the community and the squad aspect of it you can make real life friends from it which is pretty neat.

But someoe complained because he didnt think he should have to explain what "porno" was.
Guess that father though the kid was better off learning what it was in the school yard or by way of hidden magazines in the back of the closet.
Never understood the argument "Why should I have to explain to my child....." Or "I shouldnt have to"

You going to sit them all in a room and have a sex education / awareness talk with them or are you going to do that at a time that is more appropriate? I don't think having that chat with a 5 year old is appropriate.
We invite these games into our homes and as such it is hard to filter the input to our kids at a time that is appropriate. It is a live feed that they get right there and then. That is why we should keep names 'family friendly'. Not to avoid having the conversation but in an attempt to have that conversation at the right time in their lives.

His name is Shrimpy
Shrimpy just turned 18 years old "counting from when I got him". Yes 18 years...
For a crab, he is very intelligent, as loyal as a dog, and can actually be playful and affectionate. "Now is he just crazy"
EVERY single night when I come home from work he will wait for me in the same spots either next to my bed or computer. When I am sitting at the computer watching or playing he will come to the very corner and literally watch the screen. "Not joking" and similarly if I am eating something I usually share some with him and he will happily start eating it no questions asked. "Hermit crabs tend to retreat or withdraw in submission when you enter their space then investigate food later"
He also likes to finger-wrestle. Sometimes you can tell he wants attention and I will just put my hand in the tank and he will wrestle my finger with his forward claws... No pinching or grasping, just a little pushing around it's quite hilarious.
And just in case you didn't think my story is crazy enough, then you'll enjoy this last bit.
I had family borrow my computer one day, and I happened to be in the next room. She began to do what she needed to do then there was this LOUD sound. It sounded like a elephant. I came into the room only to find Shrimpy agressively clawing and actually charging the corner next to my computer to whom he considered a intruder... Shrimpy was literally ANGRY. He must have felt his or his master's territory was being threatened. To this day, I ponder the events of that day...
Fun fact, that is also the origin of my BWAHHH you hear on range/vox - that is the sound he made.

But because of this game, I know so much about ACM and tactics that I'm pretty sure I could perform them in a real plane givin a chance to learn the control surfaces of the planes first. This game is different than most because you can actually perform the tactics in real life in most planes, and considering the size of the community and the squad aspect of it you can make real life friends from it which is pretty neat.
I am a real life flight instructor and this game matches real life flying about like pissing on a fence does. Does not even come close to simulating real life flying. Most of what people here call good ACM would not be possible in real life.

His name is Shrimpy
Shrimpy just turned 18 years old "counting from when I got him". Yes 18 years...
For a crab, he is very intelligent, as loyal as a dog, and can actually be playful and affectionate. "Now is he just crazy"
EVERY single night when I come home from work he will wait for me in the same spots either next to my bed or computer. When I am sitting at the computer watching or playing he will come to the very corner and literally watch the screen. "Not joking" and similarly if I am eating something I usually share some with him and he will happily start eating it no questions asked. "Hermit crabs tend to retreat or withdraw in submission when you enter their space then investigate food later"
He also likes to finger-wrestle. Sometimes you can tell he wants attention and I will just put my hand in the tank and he will wrestle my finger with his forward claws... No pinching or grasping, just a little pushing around it's quite hilarious.
And just in case you didn't think my story is crazy enough, then you'll enjoy this last bit.
I had family borrow my computer one day, and I happened to be in the next room. She began to do what she needed to do then there was this LOUD sound. It sounded like a elephant. I came into the room only to find Shrimpy agressively clawing and actually charging the corner next to my computer to whom he considered a intruder... Shrimpy was literally ANGRY. He must have felt his or his master's territory was being threatened. To this day, I ponder the events of that day...
Fun fact, that is also the origin of my BWAHHH you hear on range/vox - that is the sound he made.

Perhaps it is not the explaining but rather the timing. Say you have 3 kids, 5, 10 and 15 years old. You going to sit them all in a room and have a sex education / awareness talk with them or are you going to do that at a time that is more appropriate? I don't think having that chat with a 5 year old is appropriate.

Know many 5 year olds playing? And there is a very very strong chance that your 10 year old probably already knows what it is from his friends.
More likely they will and have heard the term on TV then read it on screen along with an entire host of other words or names. Most of them far worse.

There is no appropriate/inappropriate time to have a talk to your kids on any subject. When the subject comes up the subject comes up. "Its a movie for adults only where they do adult things and use lots of bad words. You wouldnt like it" was the simple answer I gave mine. And it was a hell of alot easier to have that conversation then it was to tell my kid (at 5) when I had cancer and was going to loose my hair and turn a funny color. But while I was going to get real sick at times. I probably wasnt going to die.
You're the parent. Its your responsibility to explain things to your kids whenever they might come up. No matter the subject And like it or not, life is unpredictable and uncontrollable. You dont get to choose which obligations you have to confront now and which ones you can defer to a later time because you deem them inconvenient at that moment.
And thats what it is really. Inconvenient. Not that its hard to explain to the kid. Kids are tough. Much tougher then their adult counterparts in many respects. If you put things in simplistic but honest terms. They understand pretty much anything.
Most parents never have "the talk" with their kids till well after their kids have figured it out for themselves. That is. IF they have it at all. Usually because its inconvenient (this is what we adults really mean when we say the timing of something is inappropriate) because there never is a convenient time.
And if and when the parent does get around to it. Like I said. the kid already has it figured out for themselves and would quite frankly usually rather be doing anything else including mowing the lawn, cleaning the attic on a hot summer day, or going to the dentist then listen to their parent ramble one about something they already know.
Out of respect they politely pretend to listen in the same way a "Peanuts charactor hears adults. Like so

I also fly irl and have done some aerobatic (not yet certified for aerobatic dough) and i have to agree with RV. If u believe that this game will help u out when flying real planes (and especially in a dog fight) u will be very disappointed and most likely very dead.

A real P38 can't turn 180 degrees flat like a rotisserie while going 34mph.
Many P38 pilots use this as their only "move" when it's real advantage is something completely different and on a different plane than the yaw.

Actually.... I had a chance to fly for an hour under instruction a couple of years back. It was a WWII A6 Texan Trainer and this was remedial flying instruction think Kindergarten Level. This game helped me when I looked down at the dash and was able to identify almost all the dials and gauges. :-)
The Instructor took off and landed....but I got a good 45 minutes of level flight with basic turns. After some basic instruction and demonstration he said "Turn to a heading of 270" and I did it. "Hold this course", "Watch your alt...stay at 4500" and I did it. On the way back to the airport he told me to "descend at 500 feet per minute." Rgr that.....held it on the correct heading and rate of descent. Now...ask me what was going on "outside" the cockpit...LOL....I have no clue....I was glued to the instruments because the slightest lack of attention (looking out the cockpit at the ground passing under us) put us off course, in a climb or dive. I would say my SA was a 1 in 1-100. :lol
During the time he did some ACM rolls, loops, chandelle, etc. I made the mistake of looking back over my shoulder with my head tipped back when he said he was going to check his six and pulled up and to the right to see behind him....I just about passed out right there. What a head rush though.
So while the game helped me....it certainly is nothing like the real deal. It just makes me appreciate more what the "real" pilots did in WWII!!

But seriously, I don't see many stupid names but I do see many that no one seems to be able to read correctly or pronounce correctly. Here are some of my favorite Mis-pronounced names....
1) Shufly Everyone says Shuff-lee as if walks without lifting his feet, but it's suposed to be pronounced Shoe-Fly.
2) Ghi Half of the folks say Gee-Hi. while the other half say Ghi (GGee as in "Guy" LaFluer the Canadian hocky player.)
3) Pipz Hear a lot PiPs as if he sings backup for Gladys Knight. It's suposed to be Pipes like he's a plumber or preferes the Pipe to a Bong ;)
4) Geaux Everyone says "...hey...uh...Um...There's a P-38 on your six!" It's GO, like the opposite of STOP. It's a Lousiana thing, paying tribute to their Cajun influences.
5) RuAml People say Rommel as if he was the German Field Marshal. I think it's just a mashup of Russian-American League or something. I say Roo-Am-el because that's how it's spelled.

We had 4 fights that day in the DA, you got your arse handed back to you in 3 of the 4 fights, so my ACM must have been okay that day.
My second flight ever in a P38 of any type in a duel VS AKAK after he claimed I was avoiding him.
After this, I was worried it was too uber but I lost the next 3 so the P38 doesn't become one of the uber hangar queens I avoid flying like the la7 and N1k.
Still.....haven't flown it since.
IIRC, one of the fights were in I-16s, which you claim to be an expert in (and one I've never flown) and you lost.
