I miss Earl and his stories he would post about his adventures flying big airplanes...
-
I never knew Earl well, but I surely miss Pipz - his effervescent presence in scenarios, or happy greeting whenever he noticed you were logged in.... :salute
-
1776, he passed away along time ago when the game was young.
Also Sudz, one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet, and I met him at two cons.
Skuzzy, brain dead along time ago...oh wait! :) Just kidding Skuzzy! :devil

Wow! That's a helluva nice tribute. And yes, I remember so many of those names. And was shocked about some...that's what happens when you're away from the game for 10 years I suppose.
-
Nice tribute, however CrzyHrs, 1colo flew with us the flying circus. He was my wingman in FR in AH and in AH.
-
Didn't Bob Shaw, author of "Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering" play Aces High also? I thought I read where he had some attended AH conventions.
Speaking of AH conventions and great pilots, is Drex still around?
-

I will update that, I may have copied some info wrong when I updated the format. I apologize. :salute

Yes, Bob Shaw attended a couple of conventions. He was a friend of HiTech's.
-
So sad.
That is a very nice tribute page, 1701E.
-
Somewhere I got a photo of Mouse and Hitech from either Con 2000 or Con 2002. I'll see if I can dig that up.

I haven't heard from Drex since 2006. I think his email changed.

Dang I had no idea SWOnyx had passed on. :(

I know no one cares but I am still alive and well. I have been paying my monthly fees but can't fly until my home is finished. Hurricane Harvey flooded my home and it was a while before the builder could start because of all the homes destroyed down here.
We decided to do a complete remodel so it is going to be awhile.
I shall return! :salute
-
hey shuff I care in fact I was wondering when you'd be back just today!
Glad to hear you are close to being back to normal. Hope to see you back soon.
:salute
-
Rowdy1. Him and changeup were the first guys I met in AH and rowdy took me into his squad and taught me a lot about the game and about life in general. I was only 14 when I started.

Holy moly! It's BEAR!
-
Pipz had a stalker you know, he fetled her once and she then went mental :rofl
I shoot down more planes since he passed, when i logged on i spent more time laughing than actually getting of the runway.
We should not fall out with each other its daft :)
I hope his dogs got a home

Did Mouse pass?! I, too, miss Earl. Miss Pipz, as well. :salute

I obviously missed this and it comes quite unexpectedly. There are certain individuals I take for granted as being there for me to meet and shake hands with, someday. I grieve his loss quite selfishly.
P.S. If I posted in his passing thread then my memory betrayed me yet again.

How about LJBnumbers...cant remember the digits :uhoh His wife had been sick, then all a sudden NO MORE LJB. He was great at Air Traffic Control when base was under attack. Believe he was member of Unforgiven? Was always good for a laugh, when he and Wizzy were at same base...miss them both :salute

My son Andrew. Went by Drewzil in AH. I've flown with a lot of great wingmen, but nothing was more fun than going out on the prowl with Drew and playing history. It will be 13 years in August.
Doing our Don Gentile, Johnny Godfrey 4th FG impression back in the day. Drew in the lead.

The AHXAR folks had a small memorial.
I've since lost the films with the eulogies from the various speakers but this is what survived. Never would've been a racing league without KO. <S> 68KO :salute

Thanks for keeping that list. Quite a few names there that I remember.
The loss of Pipz is still fresh. I still expect him to come on the loose deuce TeamSpeak with a "Shalom belly!", "happy friday!", or "pull my finger!".
Earl/ET37 is also a big one. His passing was heart breaking because we knew it was coming and was posting here his last stories, knowing they were his last.
Titbit, I don't know how many remember her - it was over a decade ago. Crazy British lady, she was fun to have around when we were in the 332nd Vikings.
Face it, we are a relatively small community of aging geezers. In such a population the loss rates are expected to be high.

While it was long ago, Dan, it's still an every day event. Hang in there.
People often forget that the principle value of AH (and Bigweek!) is the community. You make friends for life here, friends you may never meet in person, but people who make a difference in your life.

AINT that the TRUTH!? Its a great outlet for a guy dealing with Multiple Sclerosis and the depression you get from coping with it,as well. You guys pretty much saved my life. I would like to believe I would have been strong enough to get it turned around on my own...but not sure. So...its not that big a stretch to credit all you guys :rock

There used to be a GV'er with the callsign "Butcher." He was good friends with Hooter. Butcher told everyone of Hooters passing several years ago.
Butcher recently left a post he might come back to AH. If he does you can find out more details.
Hooter was a great guy and will be missed. I remember when he landed over 200 kills with a Panther G at the v134 spawn back
when we still had the Trinity map in the rotation. Players kept running him supps so he could keep the streak going.

Please add the name of snark to this list. He got me into the game and started teaching me before he had his heart attack. A truly great friend and person. I miss him every day.

Sads was my first best fight of AH ...you know the one that you get to have about three turns before you die.... and GRIM with his HurriII .... was always a nice guy after killing me over and over.

Thanks for putting that list up there.

68KO... I flew in his memorial and it was very touching. About a week after I was jacking with some film and he had said some (nice) things to me during FSO and I got serious chills.

OzKansas....Charlie. A wonderful man.
13th TAS commissioned a map in his honor. The first OzKansas map was totally awesome. It evolved over the years, never as good as the first one, IMO.

Mielta is the guy I miss... he immigrated here from Poland with a wife and two young daughters with a suitcase and a dream. He got into the Silicon Valley game, started a business that eventually sold to Cisco Systems for millions... he died of brain cancer. There was a page up for him for a long time and in the picture of when his small start up had sold out he looked like it had almost all been too easy-
He was a good man, great sense of humor and he got me hooked on Embassy Suites and showed me how to properly drink shots of Polish vodka. He was a good man.

If you still have the films all you'd need is a copy of AH2. With the AH2 film viewer you can then save the most memorable moments as .avi files.

Mac was a friend to me when I was neophyte here and we exchanged calls and emails. Life happened and I was away from the game and the boards for a long time. Then one night I logged on for the hell of it and saw that he had passed and just absolutely broke down in tears. He was a really good guy.

When you do come back go Nit. I did. I have been surprised about how many x-Bish have ended up there. Different country culture and it is taking time to get used to it. But all in all, a good side switch.

Yeah, I went to his grave site service- I was afraid to go to his Church service because it was Catholic and I might spontaneously combust upon entering the church. But Andy was a great guy, it's too bad he left us so early.
Me, I'm doing good- fires are kicking our asses, and weed prices are down but other than that my underwear is loose and there's no stickers in my sandals so I can dance and flop. So how is Montana? Enjoying being out of the rat race?

Geez lots of names I remember being added to this list from my days in AW and AH2+; glad to see a bunch of others that aren't on the list and they are posting in here.

LOL! :rofl You have a way of describing yourself like no other.
We don't break ground until May 1st for the foundation. They are escavating the lot and putting the driveway in as I type.
I've discovered that "Retirement" means being tired over and over and over again. How the heck did I let so much stuff go when I was working?
Playing catch up, fixing the house up, paint, new fence, etc. Busier now than I ever was working at Boeing.
May 1st 2019 can't come fast enough. Then I'll be living in a 5th wheel trailer on Flathead lake for 5 months while the house is being built.
All one floor, 2500 sq feet. I'll have a crawl space except for a 15x30 ft gun room in the celler with a vault door, climate controlled.

I wonder what the arenas are like on the other side.
