Grade the Tunisia Setup 12/19/03 - 12/25/03

Please grade the Tunisia setup. Remember we are grading on a C curve. A's should be near impossible to get. F's are equally near impossible.

F

1) P47s in a setting that never had them sucked.
2) The lack of Spit's in a place where they should have been sucked.
3) The map being severely bugging sucked. Tunisia should NEVER be used again.
4) The balanced planeset with the Axis planes having no firepower vs 6 to 8 .50s or quad Hispano toting Allied planes sucked.
5) The lack of effective Axis JABO vs the Allied Mossie sucked.
6) The use of the B26s as travelling gun batteries sucked... not the map makers fault really but still deeply annoying. Could have been offset by better armed Axis planes. Not sure but I think the Axis would be happier with Allies getting the Lancaster instead of the B26s all the time. Yes they have a greater payload but the laser .50s are getting pretty old.

I would still give it a 'C'

I liked the idea of a match-up that may not be historical and would be in favor of more of those types of set-ups.......

C+

I've been sick this week and didn't fly much.
I flew the 109F a bit and the P-47 a bit.
Thought it was a fair ballance and had fun.

I really don't care much on what's available for me to fly, or I have to fly against - as long as the historicity is kept alive. In that sense, leaving out the SpitV and putting in the P-47D may have been an experiment on part of the CT staff, but I think it's a failed experiment.

The map is old, and I dearly wish I could see desert camo Spits, 109s and 190s... the release of AH2 really discouraged map makers and skin builders to continue their works, and seeing how AH2 is delayed so long.. makes me feel a bit sad.

 I guess I'll give it a  "C"

I didn't get to fly as much as I'd like, but, based upon what I did see, I enjoyed this setup a lot.  The P-47 was an effective counter to the A5, I thought, and any setup that features the P40E v. the 202 just has to be above-average.

For the record Jazz - a study was done after the war by the USAAF and they found that the bombers shot down almost DOUBLE the number of enemy a/c than the Fighters of the USAAF did.

There was a reason the real LW had to come up with tactics to specifically attack the bombers in their combat boxes. Even then it was a very dangerous undertaking.

Your missing my point. Allied pilots have been getting into the habit of flying their B26s around as nothing more than travelling AAA batteries. They aren't bombing targets. I've seen some flipping their ord out of the bay while rolling down runway. Their only intent is to fly around and shoot the hell out of any plane that comes close.

As for the dangerous undertaking... yes I suppose it is for some people. I wasn't complaining about this subject for my own sake. I was pointing it out for others. I was pointing it out because of the totally lame way the 3 dozen .50s flying in extremely close formation are being used.
