new puter.. new ch stuff..
« on: August 07, 2004, 09:20:28 AM »
probly have to call ch or ah monday but..

Got a new puter so had to dump all the analog stuff and buy a  new usb combatstick, pro throttle and pro pedals.

plugged em in and the software.  everything works great in control panel.

fire up AH and the only thing that works is the combatstick..  the buttons all function and the stick sorta does.  got pitch but no roll.  got views on one hat..  the prothrottle doesn't do anything nor do the rudders.  It's like AH doesn't know they are there.

I have been uwsing analogf stuff and it has been years since I even set that stuff up so I haven't a clue.

Is there something simple I am leaving out or not doing?

If they all show up in AH under Select Joystick; select AH function on left, choose controller in center, select axis or button on right, and click Set Input.  You have to do this for each axis/button.

Laz,

What little I know of it.... when you set it up in AH.. it will remember how you have them set.

I am using the SAITEK X45....  In the JS program (not AH) I programmed key presses for each position on my view hat.  Then I have a pinkie button so I can do combinations for the up angles.

Pinkie is mapped to number 5
Hat has 4 for left.... 6 for right..... Press pinkie and move hat to the left... I am sending 5, 4 and I get the UP LEFT view.

As for the axis I programmed them in AH.  The throttle, rudder, and roll and pitch.. I used the AH programming.

I also programmed my other buttons to send key presses because I don't think AH can "see" all the buttons.... So I have my WEP on one button, flaps on another, trim on a hat, things like that.

Don't know if this explanation helped... don't suppose it could hurt tho.  Good Luck...

Just save the config file - I dont have AH on my harddrive right now to look for the name.  I think was in the "Settings" folder.

Just save that file and your settings will be saved for later use.  (Same thing for views etc.)

You are correct. I save the entire Settings Folder for head pos, convergence, video settings, joystick setup, and keymapping.

heres what u have to do

you must COMBINE them all into 1

u need the control manger software click on map wizard

select all the CH products u have I.E. highlight stick then throttle

then Pedals into then hit OKAY

this makes a Contol Manager Device 1

all of the components are combined

you may map how u wish.

Now 2nd keepin mind after u downlaod the set with control manger you then have to get the CMstart and grab and DRAG it to the START>PROGRAMS> STARTUP

you can find this in the CHPRODUCTS folder ITS the CMSTART
you must drag and put it in the startup otherwise you have to download it into memory everytime.

hope that helps.

You are correct but it isn't necessary.  I believe he already set it up as DirectX input in AH.  I find 32 buttons, toe brakes, stick throttle for rpm's, and 2 8-way hats plenty for a simple game like AH.  I do use Control Manager for old games like Falcon 4 or complex games like LOMAC where I need 3 modes and a shift button for all the inputs.  Anyone who wishes to use CM should visit this site-

Thanks guys.

One problem I am having is that AH sometimes won't recognize some of my hats and buttons and then the next ime it does.  If I catch it when it recognizes the button/hat I can program that button.  but sometimes when I go to stick mapping the button doesn't work so I cant program it... have to go back to choose joystick and on and on.

What is the name of the file I save when I am done?  I can just save that to disc right?  and then if I get another puter and controls just copy my settings?

Not sure bout the button problem.  The only time that ever happened to me was if I unplugged a 4th USB controler (MSFF2) which changed the order the controllers appear in Windows and AH.  The MSFF2 is usually the top of the list.

I would save the entire Settings folder.  When you do a reinstall of AH this folder isn't created till you launch the game the first time, so I copy it to the AH folder before the first launch.
