It is British, but its painted different from other spitfires.  From what I know of this one, it was manufactured in Britain with all of the Russian markings and exceptions, and flown directly to the front lines where it was put into service immediately.

I cannot find any information about the stripe forward of the cockpit.  This is also the only original photo of the aircraft I can find, but I have several Plastic Model pictures of it.

The contrast is high and looks suspiciously like Southern Front Camo.  Do you have any further information on what colors the Brits might have used?  The original Flying Tiger P-40s were painted in the US, using British Colors, for instance.  is it possible the British painted these Spits using Russian specificied colors?

There is not much information reguarding this plane, but from what I can find it was painted using a Medium Sea Grey and Dark Green Camo style, very similar to this spitfire:

There is little information available, but I based most of this skin on the model shown here: http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/ModelArticles/Grinberg/spit5/

Okay, That contrast level I'll buy!

That should be a great looking skin.  Did the Russians follow their custom and leave the National Markings off the upper surfaces on Lend-Lease aircraft?
