Got my surname from a man who came to England in 1066, and a man who came to barnstable Massachusetts in 1639.

Ephriam Robinson immigrated from Erin's Isle to Charleston, S.C. in 1780. During the War of Northern Agression one of my ancestors, John Pitts, was a POW. He was summoned to The White House for what he was sure was to be his execution. Instead, his reputation as a talented dancer had preceeded him. Lincoln asked him to entertain at a dinner party. After his performance he was given a Presidential pardon and set free.

My last name is French.

Actually, the farthest back I can go is about 1830 or so...

1 branch I can trace to the passenger manifest on Captain John's Smith voyage, hopping off the boat in Virginia. The other branch .. well... *had* documents of land titles in South Carolina that were gifts from the King. Can't give a thorough explanation, my mom threw out all of the geneology documents my family had when my great grandmother died... either way, my family has been here for awhile, and had members serving in almost every war up until Vietnam.
