President Bush's Address
« Reply #15 on: September 16, 2005, 09:24:09 AM »
I heard a lot of "The government is gonna take control of more of what the states' responsibilities have been in the past"

It sounded like, "Ok, if I'm responsible, then I am the guy that should be able to respond.  So, I'll just take control of more stuff to be able to do that."

The state authorities better step up and claim they have the responsiblities as well... and fast before he makes good on his promise.

Less national gov control and more local gov control is better for the people IMO.

Jefferson Davis is rolling over in his grave right now, wondering how a Southener would ever suggest such a thing.

"compassionate conservative" = bigger government = more tax dollars

:lol

I would suggest that future govenors be given some kind of tried and proven "decision making skills" test before being elected.
Another idea would be a written request from the population expressing a desire for Bush to stop inventing hurricanes. :)
Democracy is two wolves deciding on what to eat. Freedom is a well armed sheep protesting the vote.

I agree with you the last thing we need is more centralized meddling in local affairs.  President Bush may well become the most progressive liberal President if his proposals are taken at face value and implemented.

The hurricane pretty well proved that poor folks can't afford to live in such a dangerous environment since they don't have the  the means to evacuate the area prior to major hurricane making landfall inspite of more than ample warning.
