To be honest, I find computer games boring on the whole.

I'll play them for an hour maybe and that will be it. As soon as the novelty wears off and any innovative feature has been explored it tends to get deleted. Online games last much longer.

The only games on my hard-disk right now are:

Aces High
Half-life (Firearms and Day of Defeat modifications because Counter-strike is a pile of crap)

I haven't played Max Payne, but most of the screenshots I've seen all show some guy with a stupid expression on his face.

Bullet-Time is a GREAT feature! Looking forward for an extension and mods - very capable level-editor included with the game.

The nightmare levels really gave me the creeps: had to stop playing the second prolouge since it really freaked me out (dark room - headphones   )

That would have to be pretty immersive. I have to say that I enjoyed Deus Ex more than I did Half-Life. Of course, they really aren't the same type of game, so it seems worth a try.

Max Payne is really the only 'action' game that wasn't an action 'sim' (ala Rogue Spear or Operation Flashpoint) that I could tolerate the single player game... and I absolutely loved it.  Not a cookie cutter action game by any means, I thought they got the atmosphere just right, had a fun story, incredible graphics, fun combat that somehow managed to stay fresh.  I thought the 10 - 15 hour game time was a bit short, but after playing it, I think it was just the right length for the story to be fun without being tedious - and hopefully we'll start seeing some new stories since they released editing tools with the game.

Highly recommended.
