I just wanted to mention one other tough Republic product that was huge:
the F-105D Thunderchief, possibly the sleekest and fastest production aircraft ever built by Republic, yet certainly in the same lineage as the P-47 and A-10 in terms of bomb payload and ruggedness.

Notice which one is faster.  Of course, the Warthog isn't built for speed, but its ironic (to me) that the jet powered Thunderbolt II is slower than the original.
