Why Don't We Ask Israel?

Gunslinger many of you are missing the point of Halo's post and jumping right into politics.

Halo isn't asking about Israeli responses and incursions into the occupied territories, he's talking about the civil guard that they use to protect their own lands.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any other way it can be discussed, gunslinger???

I mean, let's face it, the situation's are completely different...

The Isreali's occupation of the West Bank, and the steps they have to take to protect their settlers their, Is nothing like what the Domestic U.S. is. Even the places like Downtown South-Central L.A.

Will since someone was comparing the U.S. and Indians fighting 100 years ago to todays fighting between Israel and Palistin, does this mean that in oh, 30 to 50 years Palistinians will own Casinos in Israel taking Israelies money like the Indians are with Americans?

OUR Government handled the Indians that way. You can only suppose what the Isreali's intend for the Palestinians.

+1

I took it that way as well. I figured Halo wanted to know what the Isreali's do to help secure their schools and other sensitive locations in the civilian world from armed intrusion. I also saw it as a request for what they did for rapid response forces.

You know just because politics is often in the O'Club doesn't mean it's in every thread. :huh

Still in the larger scope of things its a rarity any of them go off like this.

Thank you.
Thought that might be you when I saw the kill message.
You werent that bad yourself. almost underestimated ya.
But having had some success in the 110 myself I know how dangerous they can be.
You proved a slippery target in the horizontal. Knowing your friends were OTW I figured my best chance of ending it quick was to gamble and give you a breif shot on me. Which you took and got a peice of me on. Once I got above you I knew you were mine.

Fun fight

BTW you owe me $1250 for body shop repairs and a new paintjob :p

They are still apples and oranges.  I don't think he's talking about the occupied territories.  IIRC Israel has a unique civil deffense force wich is different from the actual standing army.  It has nothing to do with rocket attacks or helicopter responses.

aren't at least some of the citizens at schools in Israel armed?

That would seem to be a very good solution.  Much like arming pilots and adding sky marshals to airliners.

or... you could just make everything a "gun free zone" and pretend that was solving the problem of nutjobs wanting to kill people.

Then the nutjobs target the "protector" first and once he is out of the way, he's at it again on the weak. He has all the advantages. He can plan, and time it right. We could never train enough people to be these "protectors". Unless we trained EVERYONE. And if we did that we may as well just let everyone be their own protector.

Bad guys would assume everyone is carrying and think twice.
Cops would assume everyone is carrying and be less likely to be ambushed.

Well with the guns that thing has I wasnt real happy about giving you that one.
It was a solid hit a "Kachunk" as opposed to a little "pling".
Dont remember what damage was done and didnt have alot of time to check.
When flown right those things are very dangerous machines.
And ballistics be damned I've gotten kills regularly at 600 out.
the last place you want to be is in front of an enemy 110 heading in either direction LOL
They can reach out and touch someone with deadly effect in a hurry LOL

Gunslinger and Maverick, you got it right.  I bet Israel is doing something extra to protect its schools, and I would think maybe the U.S. and other nations could benefit from knowing what it is and considering tailoring it to their unique circumstances.

As for some other posters' assertions that nutsos would first target "the" protector, I'm not talking singular.  I'm talking protectorS.  Plural protectorS.

For example, depending on school configuration, a protector if not in every classroom, then in every other, or every third, or fourth -- whatever is sufficient to have protectors reinforcing each other and forming enough of a security web to seriously discourage attackers even with a remote semblance of an IQ.

I would think there are enough teachers who believe in good guys being able to be armed that they could be recruited, trained, and given some extra compensation for either carrying or having safe quick access to firearms to help protect the students in their care.

Creeps who just stride into totally defenseless schools or other areas and slaughter their prey with ease presumably would be deterred or significantly impaired if they faced schools that had a well trained cadre of armed protectors.

Switzerland might be another example of a society that knows it needs the good guys to be sufficiently trained and armed for civil defense.

I think it might be relatively easy to do EXCEPT for citizen sheep who somehow think by being good and not resisting they will be safe.  That seems to me to be a good start toward extinction.  Not what successful species practice.

No, I'm not advocating a return to the wild west with everybody armed.  But you'll note that even in the wild west the most conclusive purges were when enough people in the town under attack took up arms to help repel the bad guys.
