Really...do the US take the blind-eye there or are the Turks that fast?
And BTW, Babel, there is no comparison there with Palestinr or even Lebanon there, since the space is really really small.
You can make an airraid while you're still on the runway in those points.
However, Iraq is quite big, and since Kurdistan is up north and at the Turkish border, I was thinking that even if the USA wanted to be mean and say, "Hey, I'm SAM, and this is MY airspace", they'd have to move a squad + SAM's up there to be fast enough.
So, my guess is the blind eye.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

my guess is the US state dept is behind this, anytime something screwy happens with foreign policy the state dept is behind it.
