Graphics Issue w/ other game
« on: February 03, 2008, 03:36:25 AM »
I bought BF2 back when it first came out (before I found AH2), but never got to use it due to some "VPU Recover" issue.

My school's IT guys won't open the ports needed for AH2 ( but BF2 does work here), so I want to get it running now. I posted in the forums of BF2 and ATI (makers of my graphics card, looking for help.

I know we have some computer knowledgable people here and was hoping they might have some input as well. so here is what I posted in the other forums:

"I bought BF2 a few years ago and have had this problem every single time I have tried to run it, but never got around to try and get it fixed before. Anyways When I try to run the game it will go through the opening video sequence fine the get to a screen that looks like the white snow fuzz stuff that appears on tv's sometimes. It will sit on that screen for a few moments then turn black and refresh the screen with a box in the middle that says something about login. A few seconds later it will exit to windows, my graphics settings will have been changed and the following message is on the screen:

"VPU Recover
VPU Revover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands"
This happens every time, despite me having tried different settings, changing the acceleration settings and all that kind of stuff. BF2 is the only program that causes this problem.

I Bought a graphics card the day I got the game, it is a Radeon 9250 with 256 memory.
If anyone else has had this problem or knows how I can fix it, I will be greatly appreciative.
Thank You."

Any ideas AH2 community?

Set the agp speed in ati control panel to 4x.You'll have to reboot afterwards.

Funny, it has been 2 years and i still remember it doing on my demo of bf2.Also, lower all your settings to lowest, you have a very weak card like i do.
