Might be pulling hairs here, but is an aircraft introduced in 1941/42 aircraft really 'early' war?

It say its more mid war. I suppose you could call it an early Pacific war aircraft.

Generally 1941 and before is considered Early War, 1942 and 1943 is Mid War and 1944 to the end is Late War.

You might extend Early War a bit into 1942, maybe to May.

How I view the timeframe...

mid 1940 - early 1942 = Early war
mid 1942 - late 1943 = Mid war
Early 1944 - late 1945 = Late War

Then what do you consider 1939?  :P

Remember, the war didn't start with the Battle of France or the Battle of Britain.

The cannon variant (2x ShVAKs, 300 rounds) makes I-16 the most heavily armed single-engine fighter of the early war.

If we ever get those things in-game, I imagine I'll be hooked into AH, playing "Flight of the Valkyries" on a kazoo.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

From memory, so might be a bit off:

Ki-43-1a = two 7.7mm guns
Ki-43-Ib = one 7.7mm and one 12.7mm gun
Ki-43-II = two 12.7mm guns
Ki-43-IIIb (think) = two Ho-5 20mm cannons

EDIT:
The 12.7mm guns would be the same as on the Ki-84 and Ki-61.  As they would be firing through the prop they would handle the same as the 12.7s on the Ki-84.  I've downed quite a few aircraft with them, but if you want to see what they can to take a Frank up and only use the machine guns.

"Thank you I-16 guy".

Seriously, that was some serious stick stirring at the beginning of that clip.

Thanks for the links.  We really do need the I-16.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
