OPEC reduces output that OPEC is reducing output

In ten years the Saudis will just be further reducing their output to keep oil at a price they like, and selling it to different consumers (think India and China).  If they (India and China) continue to grow into industrial societies at their present rates, they will out consume our intake of oil by far.

We are far from 10 years away from alternative energy sources making us oil independent.

The point is to reduce "OUR" dependence on "their" oil. If it takes 5 years or 50 we need to do it for our future. I could care less what china or india does and couldn't affect them in any way anyways. We need to look after ourselves and not keep looking at the immediate future, but beyond that to what we need to look like 50 years from now.

make sacrifices now to help ourselves later, or we will be financially ruined, while the oil barons are building indoor ski resorts in the desert.
