How come when your in a fighter with more than 1 engine when you shut the engines off the props stop spinning and it takes longer to restart them opposr to a 51?

The game automatically feathers the propeller on multi-engine aircraft like the P-38.

Didn't know that either!
So on 1 engined aircraft, it won't feather, thus creating extra drag and ruining your engine?

Btw, lol on your avatar Stokes :lol

On single engine aircraft I don't believe you can truly feather the prop, however if you do reduce RPM's just before the engine dies I think it will reduce the drag that the windmilling prop creates and let you extend your glide distance, I brought a P-39D in from a ways out a couple weeks ago with a lucky bounce over some beach obstacles, I don't think I would have made it otherwise.

You don't need to do it before the engine dies.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

If you go straight vert and shut your engine off before you stall the engine will feather and stop.
