Ok, seriously...
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:15:13 PM »
Couldn't it have been possible to address the distances CVs can close from an airfield? It's just RIDICULOUS that boats can get so close to the base they can vulch with their AAA.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I'm guessing that that is more a Map issue then a Game issue...

But, I would like to see the problem solved as well.

It's the game itself. CVs just can't cross the shoreline, there's almost no restriction beyond that.

Think he was talking about 40mm and lower.

Also the auto and puffy-ack.

It needs to be addressed. I don't think CVs should be able to come within at LEAST half a sector of any base or strat, if not the shoreline period.

LoL, I ran across that once many months ago.  The one I saw was just far enough below the terrain that it couldn't fire at enemy aircraft, but it could be hit (a very small target though).

I clearly remember the saturday afternoon that I first saw this...  It was funny, and disturbing at the same time...   :D

Well, Right now I think we are kind of stuck with it the way it is... The task groups have to get close enough to launch LVT's, so there ya go...
Unless someday, we get Amphibious Task Groups?  (I know, old wishlist item)  But that would solve this dorky "CV 200yds offshore" problem completely...

Or is it that, you just don't like ships guns shootin ya at all...?   LOL, they did have a tendency to do that whenever possible ya know... ;)

It's when they start shooting at you while you're sitting on the runway, or as you begin your climb out on takeoff that I don't like.

That'd be a neat trick considering the CV ack is chewing you up before you can even turn the engines on.
