Phantomz if I could I would take that laptop back to where you purchased it if it was sold to you in the
current state your Dxdiag shows.  Anything that comes with vista usually comes with 2 to 4 gig of memory.
Vista requires 1 gig just to run vista.  Whoever sold that or manufactured it should be locked up for fraud.

God I hate Vista... XP is better but isn't perfect, far from it. Don't they sell portable RAM for Laptops? May help. Run defragmentation to help speed up your computer then run disk cleanup to get more Memory. What kind of anti-virus do you have? I've seen some take up 1/2 of the computer's RAM.
