Maybe, but keep in mind that China makes a lot of the world's stuff, including things considered higher-end, sophisticated tech (iPhones, for example).

People felt the same way about Japan -- cheap stuff (in both price and quality).  Then, Japan upped the quality part of it to beat the US at one point.

I don't think that we can rest safely on the idea that China can't make high-quality, sophisticated items.

Yep even though the Chinese are making a lot of ultra low priced and low quality stuff they have the skill and manufacturing plants to produce the highest grade electronics also - and do so with a fraction of the cost required in the US.

= no OSHA, no environmental regulations, and no unions in Chi-com land.

The U.S. could do the same if we overworked everyone in unsafe factories and then dumped all of our toxic waste in a hole out back.
