New video card- from r9 270x to a rx480 4g or &g
« on: October 06, 2016, 05:43:29 PM »
To all skuzzy, tech heads, and comp. builders

I built my computer 2 yrs ago. Ga-990fxa-uda3 mobo 8gb corsair vengeance and r9 270x with 2g.  Fx-8350 black edition vishera 8 core 4ghz chip.

I'm looking at upgrading to a rx480 with 4g or 8g and possibly adding another 8g of mem.
I'm getting between 35 to 50 fps with sliders set to mid low range and some items disabled.
Would I get more eye candy? And would 8g on video and memory be overkill?

Thanks to all for help.

What resolution is your monitor?

If you play at 1920x1080 I *think* the 4Gb is plenty.

At that resolution, you will need the fastest video card you can afford, if you want to run with everything (except environment mapping at full) enabled.

4GB, or more, of video RAM will be enough.
