I have a google pixel2 in a metal rubber coated incipio case.

It fell out of my pocket into the driveway while I was plowing snow.

I ran it over at least once and then pushed it into a bank.

My wife wasn't home to call the phone for me so I found it by walking around with my blue tooth speaker trying to connect.

The case unfortunatly protected the phone. I don't like the phone.

You should know you can log on to your google account and make your phone call out so you can find it.... even if it is muted.

That is the same with any Android.

Best story I ever heard re: cell phones dates back to the 90's when they were not quite so pervasive. Some guys on a backcountry ski outing, pristine wilderness, cold clear blue sky, stillness and silence except for the sound of breathing and the click and swish of skis..etc. etc. They come up to a ridge and take a break overlooking unspoiled ridges and mountains as far as they can see. One guy has a phone, this fact is announced when it starts ringing, he takes it out to answer it, another guy says "give me that" snatches it out of phone guy's hand and throws it. The phone flyie out away from the ridge in a long arc warbling as it goes, soon out of sight as it plummets towards the valley below. Silence restored phone chucker guy pulls out his wallet and strips off some hundred dollar bills and hands them to to phone guy without saying a word.

These days I bet almost no one would understand why I think phone chucker guy is a hero.
YUP!! I have a TRUE STORY. Its October 2000, i believe? May have been 2001,1999....anyway..its Opening Day Archery Deer season in Alabama. The state had recently bought a huge tract of land and set it up as a Management Area(public hunting). Previously this tract had been under a Hunt Club and Trophy Buck management plan...LOTS of deer and nice ones too :aok So, it was a bit popular :uhoh Hike in a good 1/2 mile find my spot and get set up in my stand. At 6:45 I hear a phone ringing...now it almost daylight.....I hear the guy answer his phone. Then I hear another guy to my opposite direction talking.." Hey, I just had 3 doe walk under my stand to you" About 10 min later I hear the "Talkers phone ring": "Oh you saw them? Man cant believe you didnt see them". "Call me if you see anything, Ok" I suddenly decided Breakfast was a better idea :rofl

There is a link between stupidity and social media :old:

Men shave their spuds and wax their legs nowadays and think its normal.

Majority of people have high exspectations and a inability to except reality.

The daft threads on game plane is a example of this.

I have low exspectations and am cheap :)

I have had more action than the lot of you :x

More first world problems?

When you place your watch on it's wireless charger haphazard and it doesn't charge. It happens rarely but it does. In which case I wear one of my other watches. Only thing I miss is I often leave my phone on my desk in my office when going out in the shop and answer and make calls on my watch if needed..... not without my smartwatch.

That all started many years a go with a Casio watch. You could store 40 or 50 phone numbers in it. When you pull one up and hold the watch to the phone receiver, it would dial the number for you.

Oh my! Shuffler, being sort of a luddite (or rather, slow adapter) I couldn't even imagine such situations!

Agreed, I went for battery operated watches already in the late 70's when my previous watch broke. And as a dynamic sales rep I got a fixed car phone in the late 80's to help my customers and bosses reach me during working hours. However, neither of those was a novelty any more, nothing for the neighbours to be envious about.

Speaking about envy, a few years ago I lost a customer because I was driving a Mercedes and she, as a wealthy inheritor running a social service project, had a Toyota. It made no difference that my E-class wagon was from '95, a 20 years old W124, and the market value might have been lower than that of her car. The big newly washed MB made me a filthy rich bastard in her eyes, living a luxury life with the money I charged her for my services.  :D

It is comical how some folks look at things. I am 60 years old and just picked up building and repairing computers on my own as a hobby in the mid to late 80s.

With tech being so affordable now it is no big deal to have use of all kinds of little gadgets and to be able to make your own with Arduino and such. It is more with knowledge than someone's thought of superiority in life.

That woman.... LOL, you just have to shake your head at that.
