And i don't wave at new beetles either

Those yups don't know what it is to rip a beetle and build it up again.

I annoy them with my loud engine sound :)

Beet1e... unleaded fuel will be just fine.  Many people question the effect of unleaded fuel on even old engines... citing that they have never seen a valve issue caused by unleaded fuel.  Besides... if you've had the engine rebuilt, it really won't matter.

BTW... I've owned 1 type I and 2 type III's... the type III guys are a more tight knit group. ;)

I had mine engine rebuild so i can just go for the unleaded
98 octane fue

I think if u have an old engine it's better to get leaded fuel.
That doesn't exist any more .

Mine engine was a 1300 cc AS 41 block

Now it got a 1600 cc cylinder set that u can place without any modification.

Its crankshaft is balanced with a lighter flywheel.
I also got an angleW camshaft in it with 278' degrees i believe
for more power below and midrange

The camshaft followers are replaced by hvy duty ones also

I thrown away the airfilter and replaced it with a K&N one

The engine is a joy now and runs very smooth :D
about 60 hps
l

Dega, you noticed  NOD2000 is in school (assuming HS), doesn’t own a scanner which seems fair, but has a camera expensive enough to warrant repair in a shop?

Yup, my kind of thread...:)

Dream car?

1. GT40
2. AC Shelby 427
3. Diablo

My baby is the '73 Mach 1 on the right. The left is a friends '83 GT

She has a balanced and blueprinted 429ci with 460 crank and 10.5:1 pistons, Semi-Hemi "porcupine" heads, Boss 429 intake with Holley 780 dual feed on top, Comp Cams 542 lift 286 duration cam with rhoads lifters, Fairbanks C6 auto tranny turning a Ford 9" nodular iron rear end running a 3:73 detroit locker setup.

First car to scare the hell out of me going in a straight line..
If you were cruising anywhere between 0 and 60 mph and punched it, it would downshift and smoke those big BFG T/A p295/50/R15's quite a ways down the tarmac.

Playnet/CRS
P.S. Yup, still around since last July, just not talking much..:)

A quick question(s) pls...

trying to fix the backup lights, looking for the "transmission switch"

Can I see/get to this thing from under the car? Read up on it, it said you should be able to see it on the drivers side on the transmission box? That's the first thingy attached to the engine heading towards the front, right? If so I can't see the sensor. Does it look like the one on the master cylinder? I got to play with those as I was working on the brake lights the other weekend. I broke them working on the horn :)

Speaking of horns, does that ring under the button in the center of the wheel wear out? I had juice up to it and shorting it to ground gave me a beep but all assembled I might get on quick toot, then nothing. I had to rig a up a button to get my son a horn. I changed all the connections trying to improve the gnd and all but no luck so think its the actually ground mech in the steering wheel.

thanks for any help/advice

another quick question :)

The fuel line from the tank to the cap has an overflow tube. This tube had a tee in it which ran a small hose around the inside of the trunk up around the wiper motor/ fuse panel down to the drivers side. THe end was capped with a screw. It stunk bad of gas so I removed it & te tee by replacing the entire piece of overflow hose.
Is that ok? What use did it serve?

BUF to add to the list of Beetle's.

While IN Mexico my old man and I observed a bug with a Cheez-Whiz lid gas cap.  When we walked up to it, the guy twisted it off (no mods.) and twisted it back on.  It was snug.
