Gear dropping is legitimate in the F4U.  It had a gear handle position that would drop gear doors like a brake but not lower the gear...but in AH, since there isn't any such position, the gear come out.   I don't think I've ever seen anyone in anything other than an F4U ever drop its gear in a fight.  Don't most of them rip off about 200 mph?

After reviewing film of a talented engine jock, I have concluded that this method of engine management within ACM is acceptable.

The greater question of its validity through actual combat use is however, highly suspect.   It is, in the final analysis, just a silly game.

Press on.

I vote A, but only if B doesn't work first.

isn't it a rule of air-to-air combat that it is better to bug out and save your aircraft than to push a bad position.

- or have i watched Topgun tooo many times
- i usually push a bad position anyway :D
