terrain visuals question
« on: May 20, 2004, 12:30:42 AM »
When I am sitting on the runway and rotating views around, the runway keeps disappearing and repainting as I cycle through the views.  When I am flying above the airfields, cities etc they are constantly disappearing and reappearing.  Real problematic as I try to attack ground targets at said facilities as the actual bunkers, gun emplacements, hangers etc wont come into view and stay into until Im well past release point or at least they are constaly disappearing and reappearing.

My question is this: Is this a problem on my end with vid card - drivers etc or is this the way the graphics engine is designed?

It reminds me of IL2 but its alot more frantic and unpredictable and does not seem to be associated with any distance factor, except to say that at extremely long ranges the graphics appear more stable.

adjust your sliders under "graphic details" on the clipboard.

I have the same thing. Slider settings and/or video card settings do not cure the problem, Batz. Beta 26 and earlier didn't do this on my machine.

Same here, nothing changes it.

Some fields are worse than others.

43 is terrible,  can't see the runway at all till I'm halfway down it. Then its flicking gray/green/gray/green.

What video cards are you guys using?  And to be certain, this is not related to the slow texture load in this last version?

Using the Radeon 9000 Atlantis Pro 128meg.

Its been like this since I DLd AH2 about 5 updates ago.  Figured it would eventually work itself out but the game is beginning to get hot so I piped up.  I dont have any stutter problems to speak of besides the system DLing of new skin res files.

The drivers are dated 12/03 but my system isnt making it easy for me to get the driver name specifics.

AMD 2600XP+ / 512MB DDR RAM
Win 98SE
ATI 8500 (128 MB) w/ latest ATI official drivers
Latest DirectX

Sample screenshot >>

Didn't have this phenonemon until after beta-26, pyro.

Hope this helps.

[added: Skuzzy has same video card, but we have different OS's and vid drivers. I wonder if the culprit is related to the Win98/ME drivers?]
