Maybe this is my answer:

Removing 9.0c and reinstalling 9.0b solved that problem.

Aplane, if you sent me an email and did not get a response within 24 hours (M-T), then I did not get the email.

Aces High II requires DirectX 9.0 or later, we all use DX 9.0c, just to answer that question.

I just tried to install AH2 on one of my other computers and it said that DX 9 is required. Downloaded DX9 and I have the same problem with this computer. Different video card?

Maybe a DX 9 problem????????

Hope this helps someone to help me LOL

Aplane, a few basic things here.

When you install a new video card, there are a few things you must do in order to avoid a conflict.

I have installed a PCI card twice now with no problems.

Here's what I do.

I uninstall the current video drivers for my onboard video.
You can find this in "add/remove programs".

I then disable the onboard video. I believe that in some cases you can do this right from the device manager.

I shut the computer down and reboot it. I am looking to see that my video is disabled and drivers are gone. The screen should look very ugly and big. (poor resolution).

I shut the computer off again, UNPLUG IT, open it up (be careful not to cause any static sparks etc., ground yourself to the case), and install  the new PCI card.

Start the computer.

Now, this is important...follow the installation instructions for your particular card  to a "T".

The only exception being that you are better off to download the latest drivers for the card from the product website.

Install the latest drivers and make sure that you have the latest DirectX  as well. (click on run from the start menu and type in dxdiag, this will allow you to see what version of directX you currently have).

Follow the set up instructions for your card. You will likely need to set resolution and refresh rates etc.

Now, hopefully I haven't messed up here and hopefully if anyone spots something bad that I just said they will jump in and correct me.

All that being said, I can give no guarantee that this will work for you. Only that it has worked for me.

A quick last point about drivers. If you do not completely remove the old drivers, you may have some issues when you install the new drivers.

Cheers, Merry Xmas and hope this helps.

GeForce and GA 7VRXP MBs
« Reply #21 on: December 25, 2004, 08:32:31 AM »
I'm having similar problems with GeForce vid card(s) (screen went blank on cold boot w/only mouse cursor visible & safe mode unaccess).  At first I had to reformat a partition on a hard drive & reinstall windows just to access it.  I switched out vid cards and uninstalled/reinstalled drivers.  AH is now running but frame rates are very very low.
Just about ready to email skuzzy when I discovered a problem with GeForce cards and Gigabyte motherboards 7VRXP.  Apparently the GA 7VRXP 1.0 and GA 7VRXP 1.1 boards are faulty w/GeForce cards.  Here's a link that explains it and a repair solution http://www.thetechboard.com/ga-7vrxp.htm

link will be redirected...if it doesn't work type in GA 7VRXP in google s/b first hit at the techboard.
Be aware Gigabyte doesn't mention this problem in their website.
I realize you have a Dell but maybe someone might find this useful.

So you are saying that your shortcut to the game was pointing at the wrong item in the HTC folder?
