I saw this at best buy
AMD Athlon™ 64 processor 3300+* with 64-bit platform; 1600MHz system bus with Enhanced Virus Protection for Windows XP SP2, and HyperTransport™ Technology
512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM for multitasking power, expandable to 2.0GB

The package is for $600.00 , One exception is that it has  Built-in SIS Mirage2!!I know that wont work but was going buy a 128 AGP card!

Would appreciate any advice on this system!!

Thanks again!

You could probably get a quality motherboard without built in video for that price.

$600 seems a bit high for that package. What else does it include, monitor, case, keyboard?

Hi and thank you for the reply!
Nope there is nothing else included!

As far as just buying a mother board, The only computer I have now is just a laptop! Pent IV, 1G 2.4 MHz, and I play aces high on it! But at a very low rate!

So I dont have a OS, or a case or nothing to start from!

Thanks again

If the CPU and mobo are all they offer for $600 I'd advice to look somewhere else.

Newegg.com should be a pretty cool spot to pick up hardware. I think they have 'combo' offers for motherboard/cpu.

I have to say I'm not really familiar with the US webshops but usually you can purchase hand-crafted boxes from them for an extremely reasonable price.

The idea is to shop the parts you want and let them put it all together and mail it to you. Anyway, a combo that consists 3400+ A64, 512 ram, 120Gb harddrive, 17" crt screen, keyboard, mouse, dvd-burner, box, powersupply etc. can be shopped for $1100 ready built.

About $800 without the screen..

So it pays to look through a few sites. I'm sure some of the US residents can give better advice on where to go.

Err.. you ARE from the states right?
