be the first to shoot
20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

Hang... I might correct a few things if I may..

ten years from now people WILL remember the type of handgun and caliber and really dwell on it.

double taps?  why?   if they go down fine.   If the move shoot the head.

The worst gun I have is better than no gun when I need one.

and.... I have never been in a situation where a unloaded rifle locked in my trunk with it's ammo locked up in a seperate conainer would have done me any good...  I have been in situations where my handgun in the house or on me has done some good.

A .357 is a better "stopper" than most.   A j frame .357 in scandium is no more difficult to carry in a front pocket than is a cell phone (how many real emergencies has the cell phone helped?)

I hear yah! Sadly, I'm not willing to lose one of my prize 'range' rifles to a smug kid wearing a blue suit because it wasn't being transported 'legally'.. so locked in it's case it stays when I'm enroute. Vis-a-vis, I'll not lose a pistol (and an hour later every weapon in the safes in my house) because I'm not licensed for CC either. I'm NOT gonna hop thru the massive and expensive hoops the state's set up for legal carry either.

There are other options, but this ain't a place to discuss 'em.

Interestingly, and as a side note.. I find myself a LOT more concious of my immediate surroundings as of late, and find myself unconciously avoiding confrontational situations I'd formerly wade right into unarmed. I wonder why that is... and if it relates to that Texas Legislation example of the effect on violent crime gun ownership has?

As for 'douple taps' and 'finish' shots... a 1911 obviates the need and conserves ammo. Of course, a 9mm or other girly gun might be a different story. ;)

Seems the biggest rule of all.. in  gunfight.... HAVE A GUN!

;)
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.
