It was a 51 I think. We had a 109, a spit and one more ,that I cant remember, to choose from.

i flew the spitV and spitIX mostly for the longest time starting in AH1.  I always wanted to be able to fly the 51D back then cause it's my fav of all WWII planes.  I'd encounter guys like SkatSr and OlDemon and a few others I always admired how they flew it.  Now I pretty much fly the 51D exclusively but still pale in comparison to those folks with it.  Though I have gotten better in it.

Spitfire Mk IX.  It was the only Spitfire in the original beta and that is what I can here to "fly", Spitfires.

First combat I had was against another Spitfire Mk IX.  I won, though it wasn't pretty.

109G2, took off from a capped base not knowing what was going on, got into a scissor fight with a P51d and shot him down.



After that I never got a kill for another 15 sorties heh

I think I might have gotten down the runway, but I'm not sure I ever got above ~20 ft AGL before loosing height and 'landing' off the end of the runway again.

Then I uninstalled the game, thinking it was one of those many games no longer in development, and that had been designed for DOS or something  :P  (I think I must have had it on 128 textures or something similar, lol)

No kill but my first flight in AH was in beta3.

Lifted off in a 51D and climbed up to 10k. Saw a B17 above so I chased and climbed to 20k trying to get him. Trying to get a gun solution on him I went into a spin. From 20k to 5k then I pulled out of the stall but was deadstick. Made it back to base for a safe landing.

I'll always remember the intensity of that first flight, my addiction had just started and continues to this day.

sorta off subject,  Exactly how clueless was I.........I had no idea until i logged on, that EVERY other plane was a person someplace in the world really flying it......Ive never turned on the ps-2 since. :O

Upped a P-51, and patrolled the mountains and valleys of the beta map.
