"Brown nosing" ...... these guys (CM team) are volunteering their time and deserve fair and respectful input pro and con.

heya Chilli, I replyed to you PM....... and explained what I meant by the Sucking Up/ Brown Nosing comment.......

it has nothing to do with any Volunteering AvsA CM Staff Member... it is how I described how possibly, people in the past 10 years of coming to the AvsA to try and get their own way,

like I said,

there was nothing wrong with it, and it carried itself perfectly with well known players who brought forth good battles, even balanced sides..... gv battles

Personally I think you hit the nail on the head here.

AVA was best when people just came in and flew and fought agianst each other. Before the long fued for lack of a better word that pretty much broke it's back. The past couple of years with wars and other setups have been a noble effort. However the best days were were the informal Tuesdays Thursdays and weekends when squads showed and fought it out in the arena not the BBS. No event's no orders no battle plan. It was just flying fighters, buffs or driving GVs. If we can ever get back to that hopefully we'll take better care of it next time.

Well put TC.

Shifty,

I too, was around during Combat Theater.  When CT died, which I don't see how (it happened way before anyone tried to "fix it" ) when it was only renamed - and then EW, MW, DA and TA became more popular.  The fact is I think that now, it is closer to what it used to be.

Back to discussion about video settings.  I am enjoying a great improvement in SA with lowest resolution and highest anistropic filtering, and antialias settings.  If you are willing to try to adjust those settings, it might improve your experience.

This comes from my personal experience, and may differ with your video card or monitor size.

I don't see it that way. Back then you could catch a fight on any night not just Tuesdays and Thursdays. Heck even Oldman was in the late war arena tonight because the AVA was empty... Covered for you OM.  ;)
Back then we had squads that flew nothing but the CT/AVA and were there every week. You didn't need wars with COs, squad challenges, or pre planned missions, people came because they enjoyed it. We're no where near that yet. I do hold out hope though.

In my personal opinion the AVA with the no icon settings and sensible plane sets pitting axis against allied AC insted of allied against allied or axis against axis is far more enjoyable and immerse, Its just more exitining, with the No Icon settings than any arena AH has to offer.

For the past weeks only populated with 9-15 guys it has been action packed and has provided an elevated sim experience.
The caliber of person I have come across in there is not only mature and pleasant they are some fantastic sticks, the team work and comradely along with spirit of the arena is what siming is all about in my mind.... I will support any endever to grow the arena in hope that it will open the eyes of many that simply haven't the mind set to give it a chance at its current settings. Any simmer worth his salt couldn't help but enjoy the arena with the setting that exist in there now.... As far as I'm concerned this is what AH has been missing.
It's a shame more don't give the current settings  a fair try, they truly don't know what they are missing out on...

Hi there!

TC, give it a try, AvA is better now, take my word for it, I never left since CT and lived all hi and lows of these years...

Back to OP: it's fantastic how the no icons brings an increased realism to the arena. I was in a fight with Chilli last night - <S> Chilli, great fight - and he was flying a dark green P-51 B (I think...). I lost him against the terrain background dozens of times! If he didnīt had those white invasion stripes on the wings I would even had a harder time looking for him! Gee, now and then I saw a white stripe flashing in the green background and I knew he was there! Tell me if he had a red icon flashing I could have had this challenge? Of course not...

Cheers,

Shhh Sparow  :uhoh

Don't give away my Romulan cloak technology secrets  :lol   :salute Sparow,  I enjoyed the intense battles.

And early today I had some great fights with Notch, and kirza and I enjoyed some dive bombing.  It was awesome to have some activity other than evenings (US time).  Hope to see more folks on earlier.  :salute
