Autopilot bug
« on: April 22, 2010, 10:36:42 PM »
The Angle mode of the AP of any bomber ( and to a lesser extent fighters) Ive fowon automaticly noses the plane down from where I had it.

With Angle Auto Pilot it will attempt to hold the angle you set but if set too steep for a plane (such as 2K/min+ in most bombers) it will nose down due to loss of speed.  Auto-Climb will nose down when enabled to gain speed (this mode has a pre-set/manual speed it will climb at) and will do what it takes to reach that speed.

Just try a less steep angle before setting the Angle Climb.  If it continues to nose down when you have plenty of speed maintaining the climb (150Mph or so or more) it's possible there is a bug or calibration issue.

It is not a bug. The bombers will also dive if you engage the autoclimb and the feature does not have enough airspeed. the dive is the bombers trying to gather enough airspeed to meet the climb rate. :airplane:

In retrospect, are you sure you are not seting the auto-descent angle?  Alt-X is default for auto climb, X being default for maintaining level flight. I believe auto decent is either Sht+X or Ctrl+X. :joystick:

There is no "auto descent" - it's auto-angle.  It works for either up or down angles.

Have you tried maintaining the angle for a few seconds to stabilize the climb/descent before engaging auto-angle?
