Here's a thought

I realize this is only a sim,and in my opinion it is a good one overall. It has a few things that could be changed that would make the game better perhaps.I am by nature type of person that likes the planes and other parts of the game to be somewhat close to what they really were capable of in WWII.AH has done a good job with this for the most part, but a few glaring things stick out that leave me wishing they could be changed. One of my biggest gripes, dislikes, whatever,is a CV sitting a couple of miles off shore laying a aaa blanket over a base.My way of solving this is to have a limit to how close a CV can get to a base.CV's didn't take part in any shore bombardment at any battle in WWII,but their aircraft did.I was a hot case man in a 5"38 mount on the USS Brush, and I can tell you, they weren't as accurate as this sim portrays them.Fly near a CV group, and you will die. Some of these guys are dingers with a 5" incher. The balance there is too much in favor of the 5"inchers.How to fix, stay away from CV groups.or neuter them some.I will say this it has always been like that in any sim I have flown. To keep the Sailors, and bomber guys happy, make them lethal to any challenger. The No fly zone over the base is wrong. The guns on a CV were for defense. Many people just leave that base so they don't get taken out while getting some alt.Tincans and Cruisers, and even BB's came in close to shore to hit targets. The jets in AH are doing things they simply didn't do in RL.The 163 is the worst case scenario. It had so little fuel that once it was launched,it had about enough flight time left to make a pass and glide back home.Watching a 163 dog fighting on the deck is streching it a bit.Every sim has it's flaws, and that is a glaring one.I enjoy this sim,and the subjects I spoke about will probably remain the same.A perfect sim w/o some flaws, never happen.Dale and gang are doing a fine job,and we players will always find things that we don't care for.

irondog. i understand what you want i think. but some of these would be a little hard to accomplish.

1: those 5" guns would need a time delay fuse. something that in my opinion in AH would be too hard to accomplish by most unless trained on the gun profusely. Most noobs would just give up on CV gunnery. Yes i would love to be able to actually fire that darn 40mm quad we have but the 5"ers wont let me. I don't think this could be easily fixed. +1 to the idea though if HTC can do it.

2: We don't have landing groups, only CV groups. Therefore the CV gets to come in close too. Yes this is completely against all naval tactics in WWII warfare (allowing the CV to be seen by the enemy) but you cant do anything about it if you want to LVT to the base. The only way around it is a stand off CV group at 20 clicks away shelling the target, destroying the SB while a CV flight flies to cap, THEN moving the CV in to shore. By then though the enemy would have upped lvl bombers to kill it if by any chance it was spotted during this time). and there would still be auto puffy at 3k in the landing groups too so unless HTC wants an overhaul of naval operations in the game...well yeah. +1 also to the idea though :lol

3: In my opinion the 262 does exactly what it was meant to do and did in WWII... kill planes. Bombers are easier to shoot at than fighters but fighters dont shoot back usually while in those nightmare planes. The Me163 does exactly what it was meant to do also. jump to alt rapidly, engage the enemy on a few passes and glide back to earth. usually in the MA the 163 bases are so close to the target it still has fuel on the way down. If done in a certain way such as engaging the bombers long before reaching the target it will run out of fuel on one or two passes and only in VERY few maps in the MAs are 163s dogfighting on the deck.
I am in need of a new epic quote

Those 163's you see dogfighting are actually managing their fuel quite tediously. 75% of the time they have their engines off. With engine on, even at reduced throttle, the 163 at 2.0 burn has, what, maybe 5-8 minutes of fuel? Considering how far removed the 163 bases are, that sounds just about on par with what you described: one pass (on high alt buffs), then glide back to base.

Maybe I'm in the wrong areas of the map but I very rarely see 163's dogfighting on the deck. Not nearly enough to call it a glaring flaw, for me at least.

Burn multiplier doesn't affect the Me163.  It is hard coded to what it was historically.  The misuse of it is something that cannot be controlled by HTC.
