You can have 20mph speed, full throttle. What happens if you move your wings to a configuration that has stall speed of 40mph? You crash. The change of speed is not instantaneous, even though in R/C planes the thrust to weight ratio can be staggering.

I'm just saying, he could configure it to where depending on how much throttle you have, you can control the swing wings automatically.
Landing is overrated.

Does CAP not have incredibly look-alike F-14 with swing wings?  :D

I gotta admit, no matter how many times I look at that RC bird, it is still a beaut.

nope....the only jet i have is a foamy T-20.  i haven't flown it yet, because time, seems to keep eluding me.

We got a super cub a while back and after two sorties, we charged up the battery. We couldn't get it to take off. Nothing was wrong, vitals were intact, Ailerons, Flaps, Prop, Motor, you name it. Prop would move at about 1/6 throttle even when supposed to be at full throttle. Thing weighed a ton and was made out of watermelon foam. Couldn't believe we had wasted almost $150 on something that flew twice.  :lol

Better luck than me with your F-14.

I could, but as was stated, for takeoff I would want wings extended, with full throttle.. etc etc.. If i tied the swing wing to throttle position, it would automatically configure based on throttle, but not on speed.
Lets say the model has a stall sped of 25mph with wings extended, and 35 with them retracted... (not actual numbers, these are arbitrary)
if it was tied to throttle, at takeoff I would have full power, with wings swept, thus would need in excess of 35mph to take off.
if the wings are set up the way I have them.. I set them to full extend, give it full throttle, get up to 25mph+ and take off...
then I can retract the gear, and sweep the wings.

Also, keep in mind, the wing sweep on these models is much more for aesthetics and scale functionality than for actual performance.. i as eading somewhere the top speed of this model with wings extended is 95mph, and 100mph with them retracted..

Notice nobody is disagreeing with the fact that it could be done.  Some have come right out and agreed that yes, it could be done.  And it can.  It's simple to do.

They're pointing out why it's a bad idea.

I could, but as was stated....

I was just referring to this. But yeah, when you finally fly it, let us know how it went.
