Game keeps crashing.
« on: November 22, 2010, 09:29:47 PM »
The game in the past few days has been constantly crashing. Everytime I get near a enemy base, it just crashes. No reason that I can think of other than I have updated my video card driver. Here is what the report is telling me about the crash. Its funny that I never had this problem till about a week ago, anyone have any ideas.

Newer drivers aren't necessarily better for an older video card.  In fact, 99.9% of the time the most you can hope for is that they don't break things or cause you too many performance issues - you can pretty much count on any driver that's released after ATI or NVidia has released the next series of a cards to be optimized for the latest and greatest, and support for any older cards is something of an afterthought - if any thought is given to them at all.

Go back to your older driver.

And if you installed the CCC, get rid of it and get the ATITray tools instead.

I cant explain it, its pretty common now. I crashed 4 times in a row last night, and got frustrated and quit. It doesnt even last a hour for me, more like 10-15 minutes.

Why did you update your video driver? Where you having troubles before this too?

Also what kind of temps is your computer running? when was the last time you chased the dust bunnies out? Heat could cause your box to shut down.

If your just getting discoed, get pingplotter install it and run some pings to the game server for about 5-10 minutes post a screen shot here. Maybe someone will spot a bad hop.

The more info you post about your computer, your problem, and exactly what happens when  it happens, the more likely you will get better help.

Yeah, my net status is rock solid, so no problems there. I think the card is crashing. I like to keep my drivers some what up to date, I know I dont have to, but its something that I like to do. The computer, I take it apart about ever 2 weeks just to check the inside and clean out what ever, so no problems there. I just wonder if the card is getting old, and starting to fail some. My temp's are all good, and it runs technically cool. I have about 4 fans going plus a floor fan pumping cold air into it from the front, so im not worried about it. Its just weird, but I will try it again soon (dont know when yet) and report back here.

Just rolled back my driver to the previous settings before all the problems, now Im getting around 140 FPS. Things are good again. Thanks for all the help guys.
