When I was in the Army I had to shave twice a day. (Heavy red and black beard) I swore that I would never shave again, and I don't except for putting on the "Pro" look for conventions. Mostly I try for the Hidalgo / Quixote thing or for the pointed Goatee, but mostly I let it go until it starts taking over the shop then I get out the hedge trimmer and slash it back.

BTW taking care of a beard takes almost as much time as shaving, jus not every day.

Regards,
Kevin

Time to man-up...

I suggest a 7/8" wedge to start with before you go to a hollow grind.

Yes, it takes some getting used to, but you will never have to buy another razor again.

I started growing my beard when I was about 12.

I keep a 1/4" beard going on my face I only shave my jaw line and neck and it's never going away....every time I shave I regret it.

I'm never gonna shave my beard

Von, I had a set up like that, a beautiful straight razor, ivory Handle, I was in a rush to get out of Mozul Iraq, and left it setting out without oiling it, I came back 14 days later it had rusted, so I went down to the PX and got a "Safety Razor", I damn near bled to death, they are not safe if you are used to a real razor.

Anyone going to be doing no shave november?

Of course!!  :rock

Penguin:

In my opinion, electric razors suck.  They are quick and easy, but I never get a close shave with them and usually have a few longer hairs show up.  Gillette Mach 3 and Edge.  That's all I've ever used, and I am satisfied with the results.

In my opinion, the gilette mach 3's and 4's and whatever the hell else they have nowadays are a waste of money. I buy the old cheap, use em once and throw em away types. To save time and frustration of banging the razor against the sink to knock hair out, I just use an old toothbrush and run it through the blades. Saves a lot of time.

Facial hair bothers you? It's a minor annoyance, but it seems major without a baseline. As with just about everything in creation, you need a reference to gain insight. When you hit 18, squat naked over a mirror... Then, you'll have a reference upon which to draw conclusions....

I don't use the cutthroat if I'm in any kind of hurry, whatsoever.

If you have the time to go through the ritual, though, there is no shave like it.  :aok
