Why thank you very much Dago sir <G>. As a member of the newly formed squad 'Knights of Airwarrior' we warmly accept your welcome. And maybe it amuses the audience if I elaborate a bit on how the formation of our squadron saw first light.
Over the past weeks, due mostly to bad tidings from the AirWarrior front, many AW pilots had taken a sneak peak into Aces High. Many mouthwatering features were being discussed in a newsgroup called 'BigWeek'. Now this newsgroup is kinda special. It dates back to an AirWarrior beta where the AW operators wanted to test an environment of 200+ players in one scenario at one time. They opened up a free beta, opened up a news host for feedback, and called it operation BigWeek. That was three of four years ago. The events were long since finished, but the newsgroup remained. It changed servers a couple of time (it is now run by Trip of the Kraits squadron) but it is still very active (200+ post/day). Many well known AW players and employees (and former employees I hate to say) frequent it. Many more lurk there. Talk about community <G>. We even have a WWII vet (Earl) who daily posts his diary memoires from his time in Italy during WWII and after.
Since more & more people started talking about AH (I had already done the two weeks thingy) I opted to do a BigWeek bashemup over on Aces High. Well, we didn't do much bashing. Lawndarting was a more accurate description. Or lawnmowing, when we desperately tried to get our fully loaded Lancasters in the air. We really had a great time. We also started the squadron. And it all happened on april fools day. How appropriate <G>.
Anyway, we now have some 18 people, some doing there two weeks, some already signed up. From what I hear, most will sign up after the two weeks are finished. We have such illustrious names in our squadron as Gypsy Baron, Texter, Krusher, 3rdup, Gray Eagle (former Artist at Kesmai Studio's), Diche, Blesk etc etc etc. Most of these are or have been very active in AW scenario's over the last years.
So we are a squadron worth reckoning with <G>. You can see our noble royalty in action this sunday, from 3 PM EST. We sincerely hope the explosions caused by our crashing planes does not disrupt normal arena play too much.
And to HT and Pyro: As a frequent lawndarter over the last week I can safely say that even from below ground level the terrain model looks pretty neat. Kudo's to the HTC team.
Now go fix them dang rubberbands <G>.
Sir Immel, Knight of Airwarrior Bigweek
