Why not ETO & PTO set-up's on the SAME map?
« on: December 02, 2003, 01:36:37 AM »
We have been exploring the "Smaller Map" theory in the CT - how about now thinking about the "Even Larger" map?

I don't know if it would be possible - bear with me a second - but just how large can you make a map for the CT arena?

Just throwing something out here - but why not a map that had a ETO half AS WELL AS a PTO half divided down the middle? That way if a pilot logged on and decided he wanted to fly ETO for awhile he could later switch to PTO if the mood struck him.

On one side you would have a version of the Rhur map and on the other you could have a version of the Gudalcanal map (examples only). On each half the paticular a/c for the theater would be available from their respective fields. As I don't know of any way to "Seperate" the halves of a map a VERY LARGE body of water to prevent fratricide between theaters might be the answer.

Before you explode, this is just an idea. I am not suggesting we split the CT between theaters it just might be an idea for another map to use in the future to be added into the rotation with the one's we have now. I don't even know if it is technically possible - maybe some of you map makers out there could elaborate on this idea.

I think the max map size is 512x512,therefore you would have to really compress the maps down a lot to get the desired effect you looking for.Just make a map of what you described above only a lot fewer air and v bases so as not to clutter the map,but then you would have to do away with base capture.

 But I think it's doable

Again .... lighten up on the speed .... go for the `ludes. :lol

Besides .... Luftwobbles rushing straight for English bases is pretty much expected on any CT map that has English bases. So it doesn't seem all that much "outside the box." Just picture Homer Simpson dressed as Goering and saying "Must .... take .... England." ;)

Wow I completely missed this idea but then who knows what things may happen in the future. This concept is really good to think about.

Interesting idea, but I dunno if the CT has the #'s to run effectively two setups at once.  Intersting idea, none the less though.  :)
