zero = navy enlisted slang for officer, ya see we didnt think much of most of um. with notable exceptions.

enlisted rank E1 ect ect officer rank O1, O2.

you patriotic morons are quite humorous. thought so while i was there and do so now. i put my bellybutton where my sentiments are the party line is crap, hope you live long enough to find that out.

Since most of us didn't serve in the Navy (whew), you should not count on us to understand Navy slang.  If you had used the term "officer" instead of "zero", maybe the rest could have understood your inference.

The smile on Hillary’s face remind me of Sally Fields Oscar acceptance speech, when she babbled, “I can't deny the fact that you like me! You really like me!” For Norma Rae (1979)

Little does she know. :aok

I obviously mis understood your post, I had never heard the term before, after asking the x services people in the office, they have never heard the term either.

Squids have their on vocabulary....

Never understood why they only have powder soap on ship until a former squid informed me with a wierd smile - "it takes longer to pick up!"

Being former Air Force, I had heard rumors about squids... but his smile made me uneasy so I didn't inquire what he ment by that.

Somebody already covered it above, but it references the fact that enlisted paygrades are E1, E2, E3, etc., while officers are O1, O2, O3, etc.

Navy Ensign:  O1

O = zero

zero = what most enlisted personal think of most officers below O4.

Never heard an Officer referred to as a zero in the AF. That "O" is a letter "O" and not a zero btw.

Heard 'em called plenty other names though. :)

Kinda funny to see a soldier doing that to a person which once was "the first lady".  Guess lack of manners is part of your heritage :aok
